(CNN)A police officer who claimed she killed a Dallas man in his own apartment in the mistaken belief that he was in her home has been indicted on a murder charge, according to a clerk with the Dallas County court.
The court records Friday showed both a manslaughter and murder charge entered in her file, but the clerk confirmed that the murder charge is the one prosecutors are moving forward on. The indictment of Amber Guyger comes more than two months after she was arrested in the shooting death of Botham Shem Jean at the Dallas apartment complex where both lived -- a killing that sparked days of protests. Guyger, who was arrested and fired from her job as a Dallas police officer after the September shooting, initially faced a charge of manslaughter. But Dallas County District Attorney Faith Johnson had said a grand jury could issue a stiffer charge.

She was apparently involved in a prior shooting, so yes, she was probably a quota hire and not really fit to be a cop.
I don’t view it as sinister as you.
I feel she was ultimately a sub-par hire for the police department. She had worked like 12 hours straight.
She screwed up one thing after another until she took a life. Careless and, well, stupid. There are no winners here.
She went to his apartment, banged on the door and, when he opened the door, shot him.
I would say there was intent.
You are 100% correct here. They better include lesser offenses in the trial.
Obviously an affirmative action hire. Whoever hired her, and those who kept her on, should be fired.
Maybe my view isn’t as sinister as you think. In fact, I think it’s pretty close to yours.
Sub-par hire. Long day. Screw up. Careless and stupid. Tragic. Just like you said.
BUT, if you’ve accepted the responsibility that goes with the job, you’ve got to pay a significant price when you fatally f**k up. Even if you are a sub-par diversity gender hire. That’s the bargain.
Besides, what do we tell Jean’s family—accident? Abuse of authority, even if inadvertent, has to mean something.
A decent enough manslaughter case, but murder is overreaching. And politically, the DAs won’t be able to plead it down. (Black female Republican incumbent was defeated by a lighter skinned male democrat who will end up trying the case - Just part of the Democrats war on women.
I can hear her lawyer saying to the Judge,"Your Honor, my client only shot the guy. His dying is on him." "If he decides to die just because he has been shot, he must not to live very much." "If being shot with a little bullet is all it takes to kill him, well......." "Come to think about it, Your Honor, I think that he died just to get my client in trouble."
Where is the intent?
She drew a weapon, aimed the weapon, and fired the weapon. She sure as hell didnt intend to bring him to orgasm.
Murder.
Period.
L
“Thats the bargain.”
Exactly. I support the Police version in 90% of the Media Frenzy cases. However, there is a GRAVE responsibility in carrying a gun, whether by a Police Officer or a Citizen. When one walks into the residence of an innocent “other”, and blows them away due to fatigue, confusion, or any other excuse, they must be held accountable. Any responsible, mature concealed carry holder must accept this “worst case scenario” as a risk every time they leave the house.
If he is too sorry to get out of the way of a bullet, it is on him. I would not blame her. Besides, there is nothing wrong about getting shot by the police when you are doing nothing wrong. Until the bullet hits you.
WTH,is every door in the place keyed the same?
Nully
There is no claim from anyone but you that she dated him, and I bet you cannot produce that photo.
It was a tired cop, disoriented, who screwed up and destroyed an innocent ma’s life, and ruined hers as well. It wasn’t some Byzantine plot.
That’s it.
She shot an unarmed man in his own home. Shouldn't the evidence alone make it a near certainty?
Or a war on people that enter peoples homes uninvited and elect to murder them.
You’re absolutely right.
My understanding is that she thought the apartment was hers. She had just moved into the complex and got off the elevator on the wrong floor. When she gets to what she thinks is her door it is slightly open. She goes inside to discover an intruder and when he refuses to obey her orders she shoots him, thinking he is a burglar about to kill her.
It is only later she determines it is the wrong apartment. A horrible tragedy, but she was not intending to murder him. At least that is her story.
In any event she is too stupid to be a cop.
Maybe.
We shall see.
