(CNN)A police officer who claimed she killed a Dallas man in his own apartment in the mistaken belief that he was in her home has been indicted on a murder charge, according to a clerk with the Dallas County court.
The court records Friday showed both a manslaughter and murder charge entered in her file, but the clerk confirmed that the murder charge is the one prosecutors are moving forward on. The indictment of Amber Guyger comes more than two months after she was arrested in the shooting death of Botham Shem Jean at the Dallas apartment complex where both lived -- a killing that sparked days of protests. Guyger, who was arrested and fired from her job as a Dallas police officer after the September shooting, initially faced a charge of manslaughter. But Dallas County District Attorney Faith Johnson had said a grand jury could issue a stiffer charge.

Talk about wrecking your life in about 30 seconds.
She won’t last long.
There should be higher standards for being a cop.
FAR TOO MANY are knuckle-dragging neanderthals.
I know many good cops, but it is the 95% of the assholes and the ones that cover for the assholes that give a bad name to all the rest.
This thing sounded fishey from the get go. I believe I read that she had dated the man. I think i've seen pictures of him and her together.
You know this guy, he lives exactly one floor above you, and you "accidentally" shoot him because you "think" you are in your apartment.
Smells real bad to me. Sounds like someone may have had a grudge from a bad breakup or something.
“””You know this guy, he lives exactly one floor above you”””
Good chance she thought he was making too much noise, she went to his apartment to confront him, words were spoken, and she shot him.
It will be an interesting trial when the evidence is presented.

It apparently isn't her, and there may be no evidence that they knew each other.
Mistake or intentional, I suspect she's going to get convicted on a manslaughter charge. The political climate nowadays is going to make this a near certainty.
Manslaughter if black on white or black on black
Murder if white on black
“Proving an intent to kill is required in most murder charges, and it involves the specific intent to end a human life.”
Where is the intent?
While that is often true, she doesn’t seem to deserve white tribal protection. This is an egregious screw-up, and I’ll lay odds it wasn’t her first.
If she honestly but mistakenly believed he was an intruder it’s clear her shooting him was intended to cause him bodily harm which she knew or ought to have known would cause his death. If she threw something at him that would be another matter. But shooting your gun at someone you could easily infer the intent necessary.
Her action of shooting was deliberate, and therefore with the intent to kill. I doubt if she was attempting to wound him.
“Where is the intent?”
On her own accord, she walked into an domicile that was not her own and where she was not invited and shot and killed rightful occupant.
What is it if:
Man shoot women?
Woman shoot man?
Police departments can't use any tests or ask any questions that would root out potential problem applicants.

Right above? She probably heard his bed creaking at night above her and went nuts. Hell hath no fury...
The “photos” were debunked.
True, she came home after a long hours of overtime.
And she lives in one of those dismal apartment houses where one floor looks EXACTLY LIKE the other and the parking lot LOOKS EXACTLY LIKE the other.
I ‘m almost sure one of the biddies living there that night, lied.
But, she did kill an innocent man minding his own business in HIS HOME.
That's the big one, right there. And, its worse because she was a cop, who IMHO should be held to a higher standard than an ordinary armed citizen, but will probably be held to a lower one. Unless, the powers tha be decide they need a sacrifice.
Suppose she had been a normal concealed carrying citizen, working some boring job, and came home, but went to the wrong floor. She likely would have felt less empowered to order the resident in his own apartment to hit the floor and shoot him, but as a cop, she felt her word was WORD.
Over charging so she can get off. She would be convicted of a lesser charge like manslaughter which is what it actually was. Charge her with murder make it look like you are being tough on her. When she is acquitted blame the jury!
