LEADERSHIP GOVERNMENT SHUTDOWN President Trump has made it clear that a government shutdown could very well happen in early December if Congress doesnt fund his border wall. Now that threat is creating one-upmanship between Democrats and Republicans, neither of whom want to give in, nor be the party responsible for thrusting the government into a partial shutdown.
Trump told reporters that it would be a very good time to do a shutdown, highlighting border security needs ... With government funding due to run out on Dec. 7, Congress needs to act fast to avoid a shutdown, but neither side appears particularly willing to compromise.
Trump wants Republicans to secure $5 billion to fund the border wall, a figure that Democrats are unlikely to accept, ... ... House Democrats are preparing to take the majority come January, ... this could be the last chance for House Republicans ... for getting border wall funding before theyre relegated to the minority in the next Congress.
... Congress could be heading toward a stalemate. And even if concessions are madesuch as an agreement to fund the border wall at lower levels than the requested $5 billionTrump himself could trigger a partial shutdown if he refuses to sign such a bill. [snip]

Trump’s Border Wall Could Trigger a Government Shutdown...
Finally, a happy story :)
Good.
They should shut it down more often.
The REPUBLICAN HOUSE should have had it funded a year or so ago long before they got booted out of power. That they didn’t is proof too many are RINOs working against the US.
Democrat will do it if the gain back power!!!!!
Good with me.
Both went against Congress, and in favor of the President. I say SHUT DOWN THE GOVERNMENT FOR TWO YEARS UNTIL THE 2020 ELECTIONS.
Lacking 60 votes in the senate, this is all blowing smoke
Shut it down forever!
Shut it down! Blame the dems. Winning!
The cost to build the wall is closer to $18 billion. Why do we only ask for $5 billion?
if we ask for $20 billion in this great economy, then we could settle for $5-$10 billion.
Works for me! :)
Some things are worth fighting for. This is definitely one of them. A country without a border is not a country.
Let’s get it on.
$5 billion probably gets the most important parts of the wall done. Then get $5 billion next year.
It’s better than zero.
Hopefully, the RINOs will not do their usual bending over and assuming the Obama position if a shutdown occurs.
We’re talking to folks like you, RINOmney!
Absolutely right. There is no excuse for them not getting this done.
The REPUBLICAN CONTROLLED HOUSE was, and still is to this moment, another display of GOP weakness and a failure of leadership.
“Why doesn’t TRUMP tell Mitch to drop the vote to 50!!!!!????”
My question as well? He has to be unwilling to do that because some RINOs would vote with the dems. Hmmmm...Flake comes to mind.
if we ask for $20 billion in this great economy, then we could settle for $5-$10 billion.
*************
Correct, that is how the game is played so everyone can claim a win.
It’s the existing Senate RINOs that are the problem for the remaining session of Congress - Flake, Murkowski, Collins, .... Mitch needs to lower the majority protocol and secure the vote count.
The Romney problem begins in 2019.
Hopeful but I will believe it when I see it.
