The Democrat takeover of the House means ever further setbacks U.S. defense readiness.

Years of cuts in defense spending, the atrophying of our forces strained by seventeen years of war, President Trump’s sudden decision to cut Pentagon spending willy-nilly, and the Democrats’ taking control of the House has created a perfect political storm that will batter the Pentagon and enormously damage our national security.
Time and again, President Trump has demanded that the military be rebuilt to be the biggest, baddest actor on the planet. The 2019 Pentagon budget was increased, at Trump’s request, by an amount too small to do more than just begin the effort to repair the damage done by eight years of Obama’s cuts and the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.

This is the perfect storm that’s hitting the Pentagon: poor readiness, worn out aircraft and ships and a Democrat Congress that is ideologically committed to reducing defense spending regardless of the consequences.
I want us to quit fighting long, expensive wars which are not OURS.
It’s not the fault of the men, but if we spend $700 billion EVER YEAR, then they should be able to knock the soccer fans off of sitting on top of the Tijuana beach fence.

Equipment and parts shortages is a problem, but it’s not the only problem. It’s not even the biggest problem. The DoD has a SJW injected feminazi-sex freak culture problem that will manifest itself in a very bad way the first time our military comes in contact with a serious opponent.

Like any bureaucracy the Pentagon is full of waste fraud and abuse. There is a ton of money spent by the Pentagon on poltical garbage like “combating climate change” or “diversity promotion” that can be cut.
This is why NOTHING ever get cut in DC. Every one has their spending that they absolutely refuse to touch. The result is the comprise in DC is NOTHING gets done.

It may already have manifested itself in those two or three ships that got rammed by unarmed cargo boats or whatever they were.

Maybe it’s time to end this war or wars and just bring our troops home. If we cant get it done with 700 billion a year than we have serious problems anyway. Best to bring everyone and all equipment home and mothball i until we can afford to fix it.
We have a huge nuclear arsenal, the chances of anyone attacking the US is between slim and none.
There is so much waste and abuse at the Pentagon that its not even really comprehensible. 300 million plus for 1 fighter jet with an operating cost of almost 70k per hour.. How sustainable is that?
We did foot marches in Field Artillery school. For some reason, the commander of our training company was a woman. it was 12 mile march in the middle of summer. Some wanted to wear soft-caps, but she insisted on helmets. Fair enough. Then, she specified loaded rucks. I was training for Ranger School, so I was carrying 50lbs of sand and 20 pounds of gear in my ruck. Her ruck looked mighty full, too.
At least, until the march ended. Then a classmate walked over and picked up her ruck. She jumped up to stop him, but he quickly pulled out the PILLOW in her ruck. We reported this, but she was a woman and nothing happened.
And I’ve never completed a mixed-company march where I wasn’t carrying a female soldier’s rifle, helmet and/or ruck. Ever.

I’ve said it many times here, Mattis is the worst Sec Def since McNamara, he is given free rein by Trump and has not done a damned thing to correct the disasters pushed on the military by Obama and his military hating puppets. He countermands Trump at will and is a huge, huge disappointment. I wish he would leave today!
