We Were Made for Civil War
The American Conservative ^ | October 29, 2018 | MICHAEL VLAHOS

Posted on 11/16/2018 2:44:55 PM PST by Jack Black

Civil division and its conquests are the true makers of America, and continue to shape its national progress—or threaten its undoing. Indeed, the very founding of the United States advanced the principle of civil conflict over all others. Our very identity, from the start, was framed as triumph over the “other.” We cast them out, like France cruelly expelled their heretic Huguenots in the 17th century. For our part, we drove out 100,000 loyalists we once counted as blood brothers. This civil war itself lasted 20 years, from 1763 to 1783, but the ensuing cold war and residual battles with Britain did not end until 1815.

By then there was another fissure in the nation. After 1815 a new cultural migration began. Young America itself split into two opposed ways of life and two increasingly bitter political identities, which fought another 20-year conflict, from 1857 to 1877. Threats of secession and nullification dominated American politics all the way to 1896 with Plessy v. Ferguson. Only the “lucky” generations, from the 1930s to the 1970s, could pretend to celebrate something like national unity. Even then, such privilege was the demesne of a single, favored political majority—completely coterminous with the prevailing liberal establishment.

You've also gone out of you way to personally insult me in PMs, calling me a kook, saying you no longer respect me.

I didn't call you a kook, I pointed out that by your own standards you must be one. I did PM you to ask to be taken off the list. BTW, I still have PMs you sent to me so don't be all butt hurt about that.

Point well taken, was speaking in relative terms. Still a more likely model than our civil war. I encourage all to read a little history, even though it is Wikipedia.

Article V will never happen because you couldn’t get 2/3rds of these assholes to agree on anything and even if they did agree to a constitutional convention neither side would ever agree to any amendment proposed.

We’re way past civility. Today’s democrats are the communist we fought against in the 50’s and 60’s and today’s republicans are the 60’s democrats.

It’s a lost cause and all hell will needs to break loose, blood in the streets etc and when all that ends badly maybe folks pick up the pieces and start over.

The Constitution is perfect as written.. society is the problem and it needs a massive cleansing.

I will add that NO ONE wanted to put the USSR back together again. Neither the satellite countries nor any world power. BUT, some of the satellite countries did form alliances rather quickly.

Most Americans have the blood of revolutionaries in their veins.

It's almost if some alien space ship landed and sneaked Article V into the Constitution. I say this because the same folks who declare ‘ Stick with the Constitution as written!’ seem to forget Article V was put in there by the same folks who wrote the rest of it . Before you throw your hands up into the air and give up, why not trust in the wisdom of the Founders and push for Article V instead.

In essence a centralized union of states disbanded without a shot fired.

Almost. The Red Army shot and killed three Russians after Yeltsen took over parliament in August 1991. Later, the Russian Federation would honor these three men on postage stamps!

But you're right, this revolution was quite different than the Russian civil war in 1917-22 that killed 10 million people.

Agreed. We now have big federal government running roughshod over the states because of it.

Trump is just postponing it for 8 years. After he’s gone it’s a sure bet.

“Actually they continued, as Britain tried to foothold in the west and even, to some extent, might have crept into the so-called Civil War.”

British shipyards were building massive ironclads for the Confederate Navy; sale was stopped only when Lincoln threatened to declare war on the U.K., which wanted a weakened divided Union.

In John Batchelor’s series of interviews with Dr. Vlahos on this subject of the coming civil war, one interview was about the late 1850s, and how most people could not envision the war that was about to happen and believed that, with some kind of bargaining, it wouldn’t. Dr. Vlahos pointed out that Americans already were in the early stages of civil war, but most people refused to acknowledge it.

For more in depth discussions of this, I recommend the podcasts from the John Batchelor Show of the discussions between Vlahos and Batchelor.

These recent elections have laid bare our descent into the Banana Republic of the United Socialist States, formerly known as America.

When people running elections permit such fraud, emailing in ballots, faxing in votes, counting ballots 6 or 8 times, and don’t even have the decency to recognize that this undermining of voter confidence is DESIGNED to remove legal reasons for the country to exist at all, there’s a heap of heLL coming this way.

A coming civil war? We’re in one right now. 700 +/- incidents against Trump supporters go unanswered and some screaming a$$ gets to hound a duly elected President. A tech mogul thinks he’s cute to blur out the Presidential Seal.

Yeah. “They better worry.”

I absolutely think civil unrest, at the least, is going to happen. I haven’t said otherwise.

I agree. Trump has been a welcome speed bump but only delaying the inevitable. After he is out of office it will be back to business as usual for the evil bastards.
