Senator Doug Jones (D-Mountain Brook) confirmed on Tuesday that he will run for re-election to the United States Senate in 2020, according to a tweet by Zach Cohen of the National Journal.
Jones comments came in a small press scrum on Capitol Hill, with Alabamas junior senator reportedly saying his campaign is [a]lready off and running.
He was named by CNBC on the same day as the senator most likely to lose his or her seat in the upcoming 2020 cycle.

This is a seat the GOP needs to retake in 2020.
Abortion Doug is going down.
This should surprise no one, and provided that he is able to attract outside funds, makes sense for everyone concerned.
It is a sign of weakness for a major party not to put up a candidate for a major race, and while Jones will almost certainly go down, he has a better chance than anyone else running as a Dem. Conversely, from Jones’ stand point, if he wins, great—and if he loses, well, running for re-election is done during his time as a Senator and essentially part of the unofficial job description. It is an opportunity to network as well.
It’s not like he could realistically opt to run in the Maine Senate race, which may be the Dems most likely pick-up.

Well if they can control fraud, and recounts.
I believe Jeff Sessions is thinking of challenging him.
After what they tried to do to Kavanaugh you know they slimed Roy Moore. I don’t think Sessions is a good candidate. People won’t forget how he stonewalled the deep state investigation.
They must have had something big on Jeff Sessions. We’ll probably never know. But its not like he was a back stabbing rino before being in the DOJ, so something happened.
I hope not. For me, his time has past. U.S. Rep. Mo Brooks, who ran in the 2016 GOP primary against Judge Roy Moore, and lost, is my preference.

Go away, Jeff.
Not if the Republicans run Moore again.
Not if the Republicans run Moore again.
Not if the senior GOP Senator from Alabama campaigns against his own party’s nominee for the other senate seat.
Which is likely to happen again if the Republicans run Moore in 2020.
Jones has a strong chance to survive in my opinion because people in AL no longer care about conservative and pro-life values, based on that 2017 election.
Now that the House is gone, there is zero chance to get away from the responsibility for Obamacare's faults that the Republicans were repeatedly warned would fall onto them if they didn't repeal and replace. Obviously they did not for a number of reasons including McCain's final act of betraya and they paid the price in the midterms and will again in 2020 if they don't figure out a better response than hiding under their desks and hoping the President holds a rally in their state.
Only way Jones survives is we have another clown show again like we did with Roy Moore.
Well there’s one more.
Not if the senior GOP Senator from Alabama campaigns against his own partys nominee for the other senate seat.
Which is likely to happen again if the Republicans run Moore in 2020.
Many progressive corportist Republicans feel the same way about Trump. Be careful what you wish for because they might just decide to “vote for my wife” again. Democrats carry their lousy candidates over the finish line. Republicans eats their own. There is a lesson in there for the rabid Roy Moore haters.
Doug Jones, won the Alabama Senate seat with the energetic and untiring help of Sean Hannity.
Ha Ha Ha. Youre toast Jones. You promised not to be a rubber stamp for Schumer and instead to represent Alabama. In your first big vote, you rolled over for Schumer and voted against confirming Justice Kavanaugh even though a large majority of the voters in Alabama wanted him confirmed. Pack your bags.
