Pray for those impacted.
And the Camp Fire which wiped out the town of Paradise, damaged a significant portion of Magalia and is threatening to wipe out Berry Creek is now the deadliest wild fire in US history with a death toll now standing at 42. Over 7,000 structures destroyed including more than 6500 single family homes, nearly 300 businesses, 74 of the 77 apartment buildings and nearly 50k evacuated with an expected re-population date of somewhere near November 30th for those who still have homes left.

I played a bit of a Neil Young CD tonight, cuz if he’d built a house Down By The River, it probably woudn’t be all burnt up now.
So devastating.
Hurricanes (which affect my part of the country) are also devastating....but IMHO not as bad as these fires. The fires roar and can burn you out before you have a chance to get away...which is why some were killed in their cars or near their cars, not able to get out.
Just so very very sad.
Prayers for an end to the winds and for some rain.
Thank you so much for this thread.
God never said he wouldn’t judge by fire again.
Could have sworn that fire in the 1800s in Wisconsin had over 1500 deaths.
Um... chapter and verse?
.... and it is not recorded whether He had any thoughts or words about fire.
Comes under the category of "Thou shalt not smoke cigarettes", which is housed in the defilement of the Holy Ghost temple clause.
But I didn't stay at a Holiday Inn last night.
Peshtigo Fire - correct - 1500 to 2500 deaths
Deadliest fire in recent history. There were a couple that swept across Montana and Northern Wisconsin in the 19th century that killed hundreds.
Southern Cal Man dont need him around anyhow
The Peshtigo Fire. October 8, 1871.
Coincidentally, the same day as the Great Chicago Fire (unrelated).

Thank you fr this, Elderly relatives in Calabasas. I’ve been looking at maps but the are not current. Thank you!!
Read some time back ol’ Neil got real big onto scale railroading — O-gauge, IIRC — & had a helluva layout at his place; massive Lionel collection. Did a lotta work with his son, Ben, who suffers from cerebral palsy & even invented and build some custom controllers so the boy could really run the layout. Neil had auctioned off a raft of his collection back in ‘17, but it’d sure be a damned shame if the rest got baked in that fire; so much just cannot be had anywhere, anymore, at any price.
“By the same word the present heavens and earth are reserved for fire, being kept for the day of judgment and destruction of the ungodly.”
(New Testament, 2 Peter 3:7)
“But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up.”
(New Testament, 2 Peter 3:10)
Oh I DO appreciate that ..... thank you.
Please note! I’m not implying in any way these particular California fires are judgment from God. I’m only responding to those here who thought the Bible does not speak of fire as related to the judgment of God. It does, so I’ve posted those Scriptures to help enlighten.
Genesis 9:11
11 I establish My covenant with you; and all flesh shall never again be cut off by the water of the flood, neither shall there again be a flood to destroy the earth.
ALL FLESH.
During the millenial reign of the Messiah (Greek=Christ) if a nation does not celebrate the Feast of Booths (sleeping under the stars! loved that) they don’t get rain. No rain during the reign...LOL (long day.)
Zechariah 14
16 Then it will come about that any who are left of all the nations that went against Jerusalem will go up from year to year to worship the King, the Lord of hosts, and to celebrate the Feast of Booths. 17 And it will be that whichever of the families of the earth does not go up to Jerusalem to worship the King, the Lord of hosts, there will be no rain on them. 18 If the family of Egypt does not go up or enter, then no rain will fall on them; it will be the plague with which the Lord smites the nations who do not go up to celebrate the Feast of Booths.
Interesting that on the wikipage they show a surviving piece of wood. There are theories on the destruction of these horrific fires but the trees are still standing. Also noted at the bottom:
“The condition was closely studied by the American and British military during World War II to learn how to recreate firestorm conditions for bombing campaigns against cities in Germany and Japan. The bombing of Dresden and the even more severe one of Tokyo by incendiary devices resulted in death tolls comparable to the atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki.[29]”
I can’t imagine the horror. Been doing other research about evil and blood pressure is rising again.
