Trump to oust Nielsen as early as this week

President Trump is planning to oust Homeland Security Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen as early as this week, The Washington Post reported on Monday.

Five current and former White House officials told the Post that Trump is planning to remove Nielsen as soon as possible.

White House chief of staff John Kelly is reportedly fighting the president on the matter, hoping to keep Nielsen in place. Kelly hired Nielsen as his chief of staff while DHS secretary and has reportedly defended her for months.

Trump has berated Nielsen in public and in private since she was hired, aggressively going after her during Cabinet meetings and mocking her in conversations with other White House officials, the Post reported.

Nielsen has reportedly told confidants that she is unhappy in the position. Aides told the Post that Trump does not seem to understand the nuances of immigration policy, creating a rift between himself and his Homeland Security secretary when Nielsen tries to explain the challenges posed by some of his proposals.

Trump has grown frustrated with Nielsen when she reportedly tells him that some of his hard-line proposals, including completely shutting down the border with Mexico, would not be feasible.

Nielsen's departure would be the latest in a string of high-profile Trump administration exits, including Attorney General Jeff Sessions. Sessions resigned last week at Trump's request.

Nielsen came under widespread scrutiny over the summer when reports emerged that the administration's so-called "zero-tolerance" policy had resulted in the separation of thousands of migrant children from their parents at the Southern border. Nielsen vigorously defended the policy in public, drawing the targeted ire of immigration activists and top Democratic lawmakers. Some critics called for her immediate resignation.

Trump later signed an executive order ending the practice amid heavy bipartisan pressure.

The Democratic Socialists of America’s Washington, D.C., chapter confronted Nielsen while she dined at a Mexican restaurant over the summer, chanting the words "shame" and “end Texas concentration camps."

DHS in response said Nielsen shared "concern" over border immigration laws with the demonstrators.

When your boss tells you to shut down the border you shut down the border.

About damn time, she has been dragging her heels because she’s an amnesty supporter, just like the guy who recommended and preceded her, John Kelly.

Another Bushie swamp creature. Not the slightest background to run homeland security. Glad to see her go.

I half-expect Trump to just call a press conference and to say to Hell with it, I'm returning back to private life and giving Pence the reins, who will probably end up like a Bushite and get primaried or defeated in 2020.

Because everybody in Washington is working against Trump.

“Another Bushie swamp creature. Not the slightest background to run homeland security.”

Not necessarily disagreeing ... but if this is the case why did President Trump put her in one of his most important positions and leave her in that position for a year?

I agree. I wouldn’t blame Trump if he said he would not run for re-election in 2020. I think he might do just that.

No names given, while she's working on the wall and fortifying the border. She's doing what the President has told her to do he is satisfied with the results she's gotten so far. This looks like more fake news.

I wouldn’t blame Trump if he said the hell with it and didn’t run for re-election in 2020. And that’s not defeatist.

Kelly has to go. He was poison from the start. He's part of the foot-dragging brigade of the "resistance". He is passive-aggresive insubordinate. President Trump, please throw his ass out!

I think skepticism is due here also. The Hill doesn’t seem to be supportive of President. The Washington Post also has this news, and they are not to be trusted either. Wait and see.

Trump is on a battle against terrible odds.
Probably thought that putting an insider with Bush connections would mend fences.

WHO THE HELL LEAKED THIS? KELLY?
Scaramuchi?

Disgusting it was leaked.

It is natural to be depressed after losing some elections, but you just have to buck up and drive on to be successful.

Thank God that we have Trump, who was raised going to Church on Sunday with Norman Vincent Peale (author of the Power of Positive Thinking) as the Pastor.

We just have to get a good night’s sleep and hit it fresh and hard in the morning.

Anyway, Trump would be bored in any other job...

Re: “Trump to oust Nielsen as early as this week.”

Political theater.

Trump supported “Catch and Release” from January 2017 to May 2018.

When he got caught - after the first “Refugee Caravan” - he blamed it on Nielsen.

Trump chose both General John Kelly and Kirstjen Nielsen to lead the Department of Homeland Security, even though both of them publicly supported DACA Amnesty in their Senate testimony.
