In fact, the GOP loss of the House gives the Trump administration a huge incentive to just leave Mueller alone. Honestly, I think the Democrats were hoping Trump would shut it down! Mueller doesn't seem to be finding much collusion and shutting him down would give the Democrats an opportunity to play the obstruction card.

I think you're exactly right.
I think Mueller wants Trump to fire him ... because each day he stays on the job gets more embarrassing for him.
