Great idea for political fiction. Too bad Republicans lack the balls to even consider such an attempt.
So GOP kept control in PA, MI, WI, IA. Some pretty narrow majorities probably, I haven’t checked the numbers.
CT Senate went from tie to big rat, nasty, and weird since Governor was close (not that those results always track, they often don’t) but no shock.
Maine Senate went rat, I expected that.
Colorado Senate went rat, I forgot that we had that, I’m not surprised it went, I would have figured it would if I had remembered we had it.
New York Senate, sad but no surprise. If we don’t get it back in 2020 when may have have it again cause they would gerrymander.
Minnesota House, very sad but I was afraid we could lose it.
New Hampshire, both Houses. I wasn’t expecting that but shouldn’t be surprised. Damn. Sunnunu (R) reelected Governor.
Could have been worse.
Stop saying CT was weird
The GOP Gov candidate always runs ahead of the rest of the ticket
And the De m ground game targeted 9 close Sen races. And won 8 .... By 4% or less
Yeah you right.
To a partisan like me ticket splitting and only voting at the top of the ticket is just so alien.
When Rauner won in 2014, we gained one State Senate seat and ZERO in the House, Madgain held every single one even in districts Rauner must have easily carried.
The indies liked the idea of a Gop gov and Dem legislature
We calculated “Foley Dems” we’re about 7% of electorate in 2010. Straight dem voters that went Gop gov.
They’ve started voting R for other statewide officers too
Hatfield AG was close
Which I why I question the election "results" in Illinois. I believe Rauner was the only example in the entire country where a GOP challenger beat a RAT incumbent by a COMFORTABLE and clear majority, let had ZERO coattails on races further down the ticket. Rauner's victory only benefited Rauner.
And don't get me started on the 2010 election where "unelectable right-winger" Brady was polling way ahead of "moderate, electable" Mark Kirk throughout the ENTIRE campaign (there wasn't any 11th hour 'Bush drunk driving' type story that killed Brady at the last minute, either) including having higher favorables than Kirk with EVERY demographic group in Illinois. Then, on election day, Brady mysteriously "loses" while Kirk magically "wins".
Illinois ballot security is a joke. "Votes" are counted here from anyone and everybody the combine wants to.
To me that indicates Brady and 2014 GOP leg candidates were robbed, not that Kirk and Rauner didn’t actually win.
