I doubt they would convict. But it only takes 67 votes, right? Are there enough senators that long for the old days? Who knows.
Futility. Blocked in the Senate. And the democrats will have to face voter wrath again.
However, the democrats will not take the House.

Handle what,lol? In the end you need a basis to successfully impeach someone. What impeachable offense has Trump actually been proven to be guilty of? Nothing and after Muellers wild goose chase is over Trump will have even more credibilty. Democrats have no agenda clearly. Its all about anti Trump all the time with no solutions only obstruction. People can see this. Trump will be reelected in 2020, mark my words.

If they were rational they would. Unfortunately elected D’s are off the scale irrational. The seriousness of the charge (against their opponents) is all that matters, even when the charge cannot be taken seriously. If the backlash from the Kavanaugh attacks doesn’t prevent them from taking the House (no way they even come close in the Senate - likely end up 55+ R) if they gain control the crazies (McCaskill’s term, not mine) will do things that will defy all logic.
If the Dems take the house, they will impeach Trump and could probabaly get 8-10 Republican senators to vote to convict. It won’t be enough to remove him, but enough Repubs will go along to cripple Trump.
Impeachment is purely a political process, the basis for the charge can be anything and the House D’s will totally make something up that might sound good to their base. They are so totally unhinged.
Anti-Trump Republicans don’t like him, but they are not so unhinged they are not at least somewhat rational beings. When she saw her vote wouldn’t really matter anyway w/r/t Kavenaugh, Senator Murkowski took the easy way out by not voting at all with the excuse she was vote pairing with absent Senator Daines. While 8-10 Senators may really hate Trump, even they know there is no real basis for impeachment and won’t join an absolute circus of crazies. Democrats like Manchin (if he survives) would also never vote for impeachment. The crazies would be lucky to get 40 votes altogether, never will be close to 67 needed.
