For weeks ahead of the date, folks like me had to decide……. Do I really believe all this stuff we discuss daily on Free Republic? Should I scrounge up some money and set aside the time to travel to Washington DC to be a part of what is being called The March For Justice? The Answer is Yes!
There was to be a march with State flags. I bought a Tennessee state flag to wave in the gathering. To my astonishment, as I waved the flag, several Tennesseans in the crowd rallied to the flag and zap…..we had a Tennessee delegation present on the field.
There were lots of great speeches and general feeling of well being as we celebrated on the Mall in the literal shadow of the Washington Monument. What we said in our posts lacked an identity, but that day, we came together with more or less one very proud voice. The crowd faced the White House and in that one very loud voice shouted Impeach, Impeach, Impeach.
The night before, across from the infamous Water Gate complex, we took over the hotel. There were small groups and knots of people in every nook and cranny, on the stairs, in the conference rooms we just appropriated by strength of numbers. There were whoops of glee and recognition as we met and put a face to someone we actually knew well but had never seen. There was awe as Matt Drudge showed up and worked the crowd. A woman named Goldberg showed up also. I didn’t know her but she made a big impact. She called us Freepers. The name stuck to this day. There were several selling stuff to finance their trip. There was a table selling authentic March For Justice stuff to finance proceedings. My poster purchased at that table still hangs in my office. That gathering twenty years ago on the evening before Halloween changed my life. I knew that I must pay attention to try to be a better, active citizen.
It was apparent that rather than walk the long distance from the Parking lot to suicide, the body had been driven up a weed clogged road and carried a hundred yards or less and deposited in the park. Also of note, as we traversed through Fort Marcy Park, we noticed yellow post it notes stuck here and there. They had been left by other FReepers who made the visit around midnight the night before. I still have all those sticky notes.
That was twenty years ago today……… what a fantastic day it was
Thank you for remembering that Patriot rally and being there. I was, also. It was THE first Internet-based gathering that brought people together from all over the Country.
Yes kristinn, it was a wonderful day for American patriots as we protested against the Clinton evil. I believe it was the start of the "silent majority" up-rising that the Tea Party built on later. NOW, we are the majority. I's been a long hard road we've managed to circumvent the socialists. There were other gatherings and street protests if you recall. I'm sure you were and still are involved.
Do you remember the small lady who helped organize the Flag parade? Her FR handle started with a J.
That's probably why we didn't meet back then, but we did at other FR functions - thinking the Leadership Institute in Vegas or a maybe a CPAC. Yes, the entire event was created and organized out of Southern California with others in DC. Guess it was the the first FR chapter, but not sure.
Once Jim Robinson said he was going to DC to protest Clinton, a few got together in one single meeting and organized the event via e-mail and phone calls.
Yea you were! and other FR events IIRC. Think I met you at CPAC one year. Or maybe it was our correspondence in the early years. 68, what can I say?...haha.
Yes, Bob Barr was a speaker. Not sure about Huckabee.

Well put - "flash mob". I think we talked in the morning in the hotel lobby. Weren't you part of Texas group? Am I thinking of someone else?
We were so fed up with Billy's Riady/Chung sell out to the Chinese from bundled campaign contributions. He had also redirected multi-use technology from the Commerce Dept. to the State Dept. which gave Loral and Hughes leeway to help with China's multi-stage missle blow ups. Think one of them helped with Chinese MIRV tech, also.
Remember Commerce Secretary Ron Brown and his curious death? An immediate first military medical responder on scene of the aircraft crash noticed and wrote about a curious hole in Brown's head that didn't match with other debris. Her report was quashed and never heard from her since.
Sorry about the long rant.
Can anyone name the 5 main Freepers who organized the March For Justice? No fair JimRob.
Once the call came out from Jim Robinson to meet in DC to protest against Clinton, the above 5 folks made it happen. There was a lot of additional assistance, but those 5 individuals brought together Patriots from all corners of our country.
Even though those 5 individuals had no experience dealing with large events: They successfully managed lining up known pundit speakers to procuring everything from hotel rooms to permits to the stage to the band to security to porta-potties to tents to organizing the Flag parade to Media coverage (C-Span and even CNN). One even pulled together an after event at a different location. Plus, through their leadership, they left the grounds spotless!
The Park Police and DC Police were astounded.
C'mon, someone must know their handles or names. On this Anniversary, they deserve to be recognized as the first to give the silent majority a voice.

My lifetime memory is seeing Jim wheeling down from the Washington Monument, blue sky above,, holding a flag and leading the parade of the states. Talk about a heart full of pride! Don’t see how any other day in D.C. could top it.
It was the day I met a friend with a tall Uncle Sam hat on, who was kind enough to share her pictures with me. And now after all these years we still keep in touch. A hat tip to “Minute Gal”, a great poster who makes every line meaningful.
I remember lots of the crazy stuff that was going on during Clinton’s reign of lunacy, crime, etc., etc.
I was a lot more active in those days.
So many Freepers who were at the MFJ are gone now:
Mustang and Gonzo come to mind. They were truly good guys.
I miss ‘em.
I was from NJ at that time.
But we were all Texans that day—patriotic and full of love for our country.
On that day, I made many conservative friends, including you, Seenenuf. You have remained a true and faithful friend and a great FR poster for these twenty years.
My twentieth anniversary is tomorrow, by the way. Yippee !

I was there. Volunteered in the hospitality tent and met lots of Freepers - some famous and some well-known on this forum.
Was it really 20 years ago? Yikes. It was. :-O
I remember going out of the tent from time to time to mingle with the crowd, dispensing water bottles for folks with doggies. What wonderful people I met at the rally, before and after. Mostly I remember the overall decency of the participants.
During the March one Freeper carried a giant sign with a photograph of Ronald Reagan that said “Now that was a President!” I wondered then if we would ever have a President like Reagan again as the Clintons had fouled up the system so much one could see and feel the apathy or shrugged acceptance of corruption from the public. (I am so thankful to have lived to see President Donald J. Trump and his lovely wife First Lady Melania do their best to fight the Deep State criminals and restore optimism to the White House!)
Afterwards Freepers left the march and rally areas clean. I know so because we bought garbage bags that were dispersed by the volunteers. Other Freepers brought them too and picked up the messes around them. One of the Park officers thanked us as we were dumping trash into bins. He said it was much appreciated and rarely happened after these kinds of events.
God Bless JimRob, Freepers and American Patriots everywhere! I am blessed to have been a part of this past event.
Same here. I carried the Louisiana flag. The March For Justice is somewhere on the net. I have seen it before. If I find it, I will post a link.
I remember Alan Keyes gave a great speech that day.
