I did not realize GOP voters were this stupid.

Trump came and campaigned for Cruz. Cruz has been one of the best Trump allies in the US Senate.

It is a binary poltical system. Either the R controls or the D controls the Congress.

If R control Trump gets to set the Legislative agenda, if Ds control Trump can do nothing.

If you support Trump, you go out and vote for every single R candidate no matter what. To not vote for Cruz is an act of infantile petulance, not principal.

“I did not realize GOP voters were this stupid...It is a binary poltical system.”

It was also binary in Nov. 2016, and actually much more important that it go our way...since Hillary would have packed the Supreme Court and other courts and had absolutely NO INTENTION of letting our side gain the top job again, and through her open borders and mass naturalizations that she promised, that would have been the case. So it was CRITICAL that our side stick together and vote for the only viable alternative, because there was never going to be a chance to go back and get it right. Some people had difficulty understanding the above.

But in my case, I voted for Trump in 2016 and last week I voted almost straight Republican, including voting for Cruz (but not for Jeb’s kid). I understand how important the Senate and House are and will not put the country at risk because of petty grievances.

My posting that you responded to is explaining why Cruz can’t slam the door on Beto...and the reason is that there are still a lot of people in Texas angry at Cruz, and a lot fewer people this year than 2014 who are actually excited (when Cruz was considered a solid conservative and won by 20 points, same as the governor).
