Demographics: Why America desperately needs another baby boom
New York Post ^ | 10/29/2018 | Steven W. Mosher

Although the great engine of American capitalism is now humming on all cylinders, Americans remain strangely reluctant to have children.

That birthrates plummeted during the Great Recession, which ran from 2008 to 2016, is no surprise. Who would want to bring children into a jobless, stagnant economy? But the return of prosperity after the 2016 election should have produced a quick uptick in births. That, after all, was the consistent pattern we had seen in the past.

Despite generous tax cuts and rising middle-class incomes, however, our birth rate remains mired at the lowest level ever recorded in American history.

How low? At present, we are averaging only 1.7 children per couple, well below the 2.1 needed to maintain our current population.

These dismal numbers presage a sharp downturn in the numbers of American-born citizens in years to come.

Some will hear this and shrug. Our birth rate is still higher than Germany’s, they will say, adding that like Germany we can simply import the workers that we need.

This is like consoling a patient with congestive heart failure by saying that he is better off than the dying patient in the next bed.

After all, Angela Merkel opened Germany’s borders to caravans from the south in 2015-16, partly to show compassion and partly to solve her country’s birth dearth. But what she thought would be a ready-made cadre of workers instead turned into a massive societal and economic debacle. Because of language, cultural and educational barriers, only a minority of recent immigrants to Germany are gainfully employed.

With factories now moving back to the US, and unemployment rates at historic lows, the pressure to import workers into America will only grow.

Muslims coming into a Kafir country to work and assimilate into a Kafir society is the last thing they should be doing.
Their purpose should be to subjugate convert or kill all Infidels, introduce Sharia law and worship Allah.

It’s only white Americans that are failing to reproduce.

AZ Democrat Slams Stay-At-Home Moms: They’re Nothing But Leeches
Townhall.com ^ | October 19, 2018 | Matt Vespa

“These women who act like staying at home, leeching off their husbands or boyfriends, and just cashing the checks is some sort of feminism because they’re choosing to live that life,” she told Scottsdale nightlife magazine 944. “That’s bullsh**. I mean, what the f*** are we really talking about here?”

I listen to Dr. Laura on SiriusXM often.

She often takes these kinds of calls where she advises (mainly female) callers that it is much more important to be home with their children than to own any material stuff. She implores them to scale back their lifestyle to make it on one income for the sake of their children.

Most are either silent for a long time before hanging-up, or they reject that on delivery.

I would like to participate, but I don’t think the First lady would appreciate my sacrifices.

Against all my principles, I don't want kids. I'm the 2nd of 7, and people naturally assume that the experience put me off kids -- the opposite is true. I loved helping raise my younger siblings and I love babies and little kids. On top of that, when I hear people say they don't like kids and don't want any, I tut disapprovingly...Even though I think the latter myself.

I reconcile my hypocrisy by assuming that most of my millennial peers don't want children because they're lazy and self-indulgent and can't be bothered, whereas I just read too much Hemingway as a kid and can't get past being Robert Wilson. I'd make a cool uncle for sure, though. Similar to Al Gore sounding the alarm about global warming from his private jet, as long as the rest of you conservatives have plenty of kids the problem will be solved despite my lack of participation.

My parents each have one sibling. My paternal grandmother was proudest of the one (of four grandchildren) grandchild who had only one child. I was very nervous to tell her when we were expecting our third. I sometimes thought my dad would have been less disappointed had I gotten pregnant out of wedlock rather than had the number of children I had.

I married into a large family. My children have 32 first cousins on that side of the family and one first cousin on my side. So far the older cousins have eight children. Lots of conservative voters/future voters.

Demography is destiny.

Another story indirectly supporting mass immigration and the “caravan”. The LAST thing the USA is more immigrants, either legal or illegal.

I tried to find the evangelical birth rate but failed. I did see a n article attesting to the fact that the Amish grow like 18 percent a year. Heavens i’m doing my part.

get back to me when tax rates are low enough and job security is such that only one spouse needs to work

Constructive raising of 3-6 children is possible in that environment.

the left has about taxed the #$it outta family’s tho

Isn’t it ironic that wealthy Dr. Laura, who has no financial reason to work but does, chastises working mothers and insinuates that they’re working to own material stuff?

She goes to great lengths to tell them how she gave up full-time employment to raise her son. If you actually listened you would know that. She is now 71 and the kid is grown and she can do what she wants.

...increase the child tax deductions to the point that a middle class married couple with 3 or more kids pays no taxes so that the wife can afford to stay home.

Couldn’t disagree more. Flat tax. No exemptions.

With birth control pills in the 60’s women finally had the ability to control maternity. Now there is a myriad of choices for birth control, and the economy is such most parents must work full time to pay the bills, no other option..It was that way for me, and working women don’t have the time or energy left to give their children. The only mothers that I see that can at least devote time to their children are those with wealth, or women on welfare. Sad. It is to blame, I believe, for the breakdown of society.

Excellent data! But I can tell you that here in CA all you have to do to understand the dimensions of the problem we face is visit a Walmart. The mostly Hispanic shoppers are all overweight women with a gagle overweight children, with their shopping carts full of food that you and I would never eat! But sex is still one of their top “pastimes” and they are very good at getting “results!” Maybe we should buy all of them TV’s so they have “something else to do” when they are at home.

Actually, I think the fastest way to fix this is massive tax relief and an economy that generates high-paying jobs so that a one income household is the norm. All this defaming of women is unjust, most women (not all, of course, and this okay) would like to marry and be stay-at-home moms raising more than 2.1 children.

This has nothing to do with race. It has everything to do with the worldview of the couple.

According to this article:

Take a randomly selected sample of 100 liberal adults and 100 conservative adults. According to an analysis of the 2004 General Social Survey -- a bible of data for social scientists -- the liberals would have had 147 kids, while the conservatives would have had 208. That's a fertility gap of 41 percent. Even adjusting for other variables like age and income, there is a gap of 19 percent.

snip

"Liberals have got a big 'baby problem,' and it risks being the death of them," contends Arthur Brooks, professor at Syracuse University's Maxwell School of Public Affairs. He reckons that unless something gives, Democratic politicians in the future may not have many babies to kiss.

Do we really care if the aggregate population stays flat but rebalances toward Red States/lovers of freedom to the detriment of Blue States/lovers of statism?

As for color/race, I'd happily invite the likes of Candace Owens and Ben Carson to my barbecue over the likes of Jeb! and Jeff Flake any day of the week.
