Mattis, Trump Expected to Send Almost 800 Troops to Border to Counter Migrant Caravan

President Donald Trump said he plans on “bringing out the military” to stop the thousands of people in the migrant caravan headed to our border.

Another report stated that Secretary of Defense Jim Mattis “is expected to sign deployment orders as soon as Thursday that could send 800 or more troops to the border.”

Trump has repeated threats to send the military to the border to defend it against the mostly Honduran migrants who continue to march to the border. The number of people within the caravan has fluctuated, but USA Today reported that the Mexican government has determined the number has fallen to 4,500 as people have either stopped or asked for asylum in Mexico:

Mexico’s Interior Ministry said immigration officials have received 1,699 asylum claims, while 495 Hondurans have asked to be returned to their country of origin. The Central American migrants come mostly from Honduras but also includes those from Nicaragua, El Salvador and Guatemala. The status of about 500 other migrants is unclear. United Nation officials estimated Monday there were more than 7,200 migrants in the caravan.

Here’s another article that states THE Posse Comitatus Act (PCA).21 cannot prevent armed troops on the border....according to the Constitution....

LOL. Maybe we should serve them some antacids to calm their bellyaches! It really gets tiresome to be subjected to their constant pessimist attitude.

I understand your frustration .....Besides they cannot understand, apparently, that our President has to do things within our laws and constitution.... and surely has better minds advising and assisting him to get things done than what we actually can offer.

It’s never as simple as some folks want it to be.

This is bullshit . Ditch the PCA ! To hell with this legal crap . We are being invaded and if we sit here and let lawyers tell us how we can handle that we are not deserving of great nation status .

President Trump should declare marital law in all border states . To include California . The border counties at the very least .
He should also authorize the calling up of a civilian militia of volunteers , apart from the national guards , and authorize them to be deputized as a 2nd echelon screening posse to back up all front line forces .

It’s time to take the gloves off , not quote statutes . Screw the statutes ! Be ready and shoot straight .

Why would he telegraph his exact moves in advance?

He has said one never does that.

I’m expect he has a plan to get things completely in hand.

I’m going to trust his plan, whatever it is, until proven otherwise.

2 battalions of combat engineers can stop enemy divisions. If these are engineers, I know they can throw up a defensive barrier that is virtually impassable for foot weary, unarmed civilians. Combat engineers have remarkable capabilities if this is what they are and this is what their mission is.

I covered combat engineers once upon a time. I watched them build a cargo plane ready airstrip in hours. I watched them practice blowing holes a dozen feet deep in roads using ad hoc supplies like fertilizer and diesel. When they string concertina, be prepared to get stuck if you don’t have bangalors.

It all is a matter of who are these 800 and what is their mission

I told you is wasn’t a guess. As you can now see, I was right. There are thousands more troops on the way just As I knew there would be.

Why do you doubt people who are knowledgeable on how large deployments are done.

I probably wouldn't have doubted you if you'd taken a minute to inform me of your bona fides. Anyone can insist they're an 'expert' on the internet.

I once saw a documentary about a combat engineer squad that prevented a very large German reinforcement force from crossing a river at several successive locations.

I was an amazing story.

American Heros Channel had a series called “Against All Odds”. The episode “Those Damned Engineers” was about a 13-man squad prevented General Piper from reaching the port of Antwerp by blowing up bridges and otherwise delaying the German attack during the Battle if the Bulge. There combat engineer unit was the most decorated Engineer unit in all of WW II, and the men didn’t lean of it until 60 years later.

Because I said I had experience in large unit movements, and you responded that I was only guessing. There was no guessing.

They might also want to consider bringing a bunch of deodorant cannons to the border...

And my point was if troops were going to the border, we would know about it ahead of time, as we now do.

A lot of us ex-military knew there would be many thousands of troops going to the border before is was officially announced. People like you were complaining about only 800 soldiers being sent when you didn’t listen to those of us who know how large deployments are conducted.
