Full title: This is what local corruption looks like: In Florida, DeSantis highlights reports that an FBI agent bought a Hamilton ticket for Gillum
Republican Ron DeSantis seized on reports that Andrew Gillum, Democratic opponent in Floridas race for governor, used a ticket from an undercover FBI agent to see the Broadway show Hamilton in 2016. [snip]
... text messages were made public that appeared to contradict previous statements by Gillum, the current mayor of Tallahassee, whose city has been the subject of a federal public-corruption probe.

Text messages reveal the tickets came from an FBI agent posing as a real-estate developer- aka Mike Miller.
They debate (Communist vs. Conservative) tonight at 7PM EST.
Man, in the old days it took a suitcase of cash to buy a politician. Now it’s just tickets to a Broadway show? Fabulous!
Why wasnt he arrested by undercover? I guess afraid to be called racist.

Gilligan is a neophyte and didn’t step up his graft game.
That's what happens when lower-class people enter politics. They sell out cheaply.
That is, until they get acclimated. It's fun to look at the personal net worth of some of our more cretinous representatives and senators. It rises after their initial election, slowly at first. But then, as they gain experience, connection, and clout via committee appointments, it often rises sharply.
...just haggling over price.
If it was a ‘sting’ why haven’t charges been brought?
Isn't that the show where black actors pretend they are the Founding Fathers?
The ones that openly insulted VP Pence when he went to see the show?
How appropriate...
Blacks playing Founding Father’s. Cultural Appropriation??
Yes, right up Gillum’s alley. There’s probably much more to the FBI corruption probe on the Tallahassee mayor and how he ran the city finances. It’s more than just a couple of Hamilton tix.
It’s an ongoing investigation. The text messages were just publicly revealed. Maybe they want him to twist in the wind (not a racist pun) a while longer.
Exactly
No doubt.
Still in process.
Sessions is slowwwwww.
FBI is deep into Gillum’s brother, etc. Question is how long it will take the FBI to get people to roll on him.
Not to be a spoil-sport, but if someone gave me tickets to a show, I would not consider myself “bought”.
Now, if that someone cut me in on a sweet real estate deal, on a piece of land whose value was increased by something I did as mayor, then that is corruption.
Whatever. Vote DeSantis. Not because Gillam took a ticket to a show, but because he’s a communist who is driving Tallahassee into the ground. And because he’s a communist who will drive Florida into the ground. And because DeSantis seems like a genuinely good guy.
There was a black Congressman on video taking a $5000 bribe and Clintons DOJ elected not to charge him.
I dont trust the Rosenstein-run DOJ to do anything.
Notice the typical Washington Compost word games. DeSantis name is closer to the word corruption than Gilliam. If the title is read quickly, the inference could be that the good guy is corrupt.
And this whole narrative focused on a show ticket. It is a bribe! Title should read: Gilliam caught in lie about accepting bribe in the midst of Tallahassee corruption investigation. No where should DeSantis be mentioned. But the story for the compost isn’t about a bribe, it’s about how mean it is for a Republican to point out a major failure in a democrat.
There’s more. something about a trip to Costa Rica and some land deal. The FBI did not just randomly offer him Hamilton tickets to lure him. He is already under investigation. Time will tell...
Agree. That’s why WaPo is the Wa Compost.. Title should read:
Gillum, Democrat Candidate for Florida Governor has been Caught Accepting Political Gifts, A 2nd degree Felony in the State of Florida - Ron DeSantis (R) Sure to Win!
