Republicans in Colorado have cast 2,245 more votes than Democrats in the past week, leading the very early vote count, according to data released today by the Secretary of State.
Voters turned in a total of 159,312 ballots by Oct. 23 at around 8:30 a.m., a small sample that might mean little when trying to draw any conclusions thus far. There are 3,282,947 active voters in Colorado who received ballots last week. Election Day is Nov. 6.
So far, 57,695 Republicans have voted versus 55,450 Democrats and 44,300 unaffiliated voters.
Voters between the ages of 61 and 70 voted more than any other age group so far to the tune of 45,148 votes. Meanwhile, only 4,940 voters between the ages of 18 and 25 have already turned in their ballots. Men have out-voted women with 81,911 men turning in their ballots early versus 76,517 women.
Around this time in 2016, it was Democrats who took the early lead in ballot returns but with a larger sample size of around 290,00 voters.
While more Republicans are voting early here, Colorado Democrats last month doubled Republicans in voter registration, picking up 14,029 active voters while Republicans gained 6,411.

How’s that compare to this point in 2016 and 2014? Doesn’t tell us much on its own.

Larry, did you see?
Polls will win. Democrats have a voter registration edge.
If Republicans have a campaign, I havent seen it. Our third Rat Governor.

I am impressed that the GOP early turnout has been enthusiastic/ahead of where it was in 2016. But, I am wondering if there is any indication as to how the independents are breaking?
LS’s analysis based on actual votes is instructive but could prove not to be the indicator we would like if the independents run to the democrats, in effect, swelling their ranks.
I am one that firmly believes there is no such thing as an independent. Once they pull that lever for one side or the other, they choose a side.
It comes down to Boulder and the Denver suburbs - where liberal idiots dominate.
Colorado Springs is the only conservative city here but doesnt have the votes to push a GOP candidate over the top.
And the GOP sucks.
Just an FYI: I live in Douglas County and just received my ballot yesterday.
No one is hitting this governor candidate on loaning himself $22,000,000 for his run for govenor.
That is more than Romney lent his presidential campaign.
No one is asking how a man worth $400,000,000 is really in touch with common people. (Romney net worth about $200 million, no way he could understand poor people).
No one is hammering how this man physically assaulted a woman causing injury.
Because he is a gay man.
I always vote on election day, even for mail in only elections. We deliver the ballot on election day.
Yup - hes bought Colorado. All that matters here is hes a Democrat.
It does not matter, the voting laws in Colorado were specifically set-up to cheat. Anyone can walk into any polling station and say they plan to live in that district sometime in the next 3 months. And you can do this at as many polling stations as you can visit. No ID needed and they have Spanish speaking poll workers for those that can not speak English. Thanks to those fleeing California and Mexico for turning Colorado into the same kind of shit hole you came from.
The stoners are gonna sleep through this.
Thanks - missed that. Good news all else equal.
Then why on earth dont you people just cheat too?
Stop whining about Democrats doing it if you arent just spouting cliches, and arent going to do anything about it, and just vote 5 times yourself!
Whether or not we can win Colorado it seems to me that early voting numbers are indicating a possible repeat of 2016 in some states but not all. Meaning a surprising strength For Trump and other republicans. Pennsylvania might be a notable exception.
