GOP’s Hugin Within Striking Distance of Embattled Menendez in NJ Senate Race
Breitbart ^ | 10/23/2018 | Michael Patrick Leahey

Republican nominee Bob Hugin is within striking distance of embattled incumbent Sen. Bob Menendez (D-NJ) with just two weeks until New Jersey voters select a U.S. Senator. The Real Clear Politics Average of Polls gives Menendez an eight point lead, but a Stockton University Poll released on October 1 showed Hugin trails Menendez by only two points–well within the margin of error.

New Jersey has not elected a Republican to the Senate since 1972, but Hugin, a wealthy retired pharmaceuticals executive, has already put $24 million of his own money into his campaign to win the seat for the GOP, as NJ.com reported:

Hugin, a former Celgene Corp. executive, has pumped $24 million of his own money into the race, and his campaign has now outspent Menendez by almost 3 to 1, according to new Federal Election Commission filings.

Through Sept. 30, Hugin spent $22.7 million to $7.6 million for Democrat Menendez. He outspent Menendez, $14.1 million to $2.9 million, just in the last three months.

——————————-

Last week, three independent Democrat elected officials from Union County publicly announced their endorsement of Hugin, bringing the number of prominent Democrats in the state who have endorsed him to ten.

That number is expected to grow over the final two weeks of the campaign.

This is New Jersey, so I am not holding my breath, but this is even more proof that the momentum is on the side of the Republicans.

Menendez will win. Democrat North NJ has the votes.

I’m not holding my breath either but I see far more Hugin signs than Menendez - for what that is worth. I assume that is because voters are simply embarrassed to put up yard signs for him.

I hope Hugin knocks off Menendez, his out of control corruption may finally do him in.

Lucy with the football. NJ is not going to elect Hugin, even if it takes voter fraud—a state specialty.

Depends.
Menendez is an embarrasment and Norcross and the North Jersey boss are frequently at sword points over power.

Hugin is a middle of the road GOP guy, but we need the seat.

Even if we don’t win, it is nice to make the Dems spend their ad money and ballot box stuffing resources in New Jersey.

Hugin's failure to object to NJ's unconstitutional gun laws puts him squarely in the middle- of the left side. But as you said, we need the seat, so I'll hold my nose and...

I wish South Jersey could split from the North. Politicians in the state don't even bother to campaign down here. They spend nothing down here, only north Jersey. It's like we're just a money cow they milk every once in a while. Except we get all the crushing regulations too.

My wife is chained to NJ. I want to try to like it here. But I really hate the government in this state.

Have a bit of faith at least. FRs seem to be lacking much lately. God doesn’t help those with unbelief.

Trust in the LORD with ALL your heart and LEAN NOT on Your own understanding, but in ALL your ways acknoweldge HIM and HE will make straight your path.

His thought are higher than ours
His ways are higher than our ways.

Say a prayer for Hugin and people of NJ and other so thought “doomed” places and see what God will do!

Hugin spent 24 million of his own money - he wants to get in and try to make changes - at least suport him in your thoughts and words.

My Father was born in Jersey.

He told me that when he was a Kid he saw the Union Bosses handing out $5 Bills on Election Day.

NJ is an absolute political cesspool with very stupid voters. Trenton is grotesque. This is a state that never got over the Revolutionary War.

Yeah. The only northern state to vote against Lincoln in 1864.

Love that movie with Dan Akroyd about the guy who gets arrested in a town off the Turnpike

Agree with all that. Hugin has a decent chance of winning. He’s got to go all out and fight to win. Good news is, he he’s got quite a bit of his own money to spend on his campaign, just like a Trump did in 2016.
