Honduran activists welcome Trump's threats to cut US aid

Activists and others have longed called for a cut in US military aid to Central American country over rights abuses.

Esquipulas, Guatemala - US President Donald Trump's threats against a caravan of thousands of Honduran migrants headed to the United States will not deter people from fleeing the Central American country, activists say, adding they would welcome a cut in US military and security aid to Honduran security forces.

"With regard to the threats of the United States government, I don't even think people listen to that," human rights activist Yessica Trinidad told Al Jazeera over the phone.

"People leaving have no certainty as to whether or not they will arrive. It is like leaping into an abyss, but for them, it is better than living here," said Trinidad, coordinator of the Honduran Network of Women Human Rights Defenders.

The caravan set out Saturday from northwestern Honduras. More than 2,000 people reached Guatemala Monday after a standoff with Guatemalan police at the border. The caravan, now in waves at different points on the route, continues to grow, with some estimates putting it at more than 5,000....

Having worked at major military commands, those are tiny numbers.

We can always count on Flimsey Grahamnesty to make things worse.

Sen. Graham told Fox News in an interview, “DACA, remember that? 690,000 kids brought here on the average age of 6, no place else to go. Trump’s going to win in court; he can repeal DACA. The day he wins in court, what do we do with these young people? So I’d like to do a deal: Full wall funding for DACA.”

But here’s the catch: Graham explicitly rules out including any further reforms in the DACA-for-wall deal. Fox host Brian Kilmeade asked him if there would be additional reforms like ending chain migration. Sen. Graham answered, “Nope, keep it simple.” Translation: Congress should punt on needed immigration reforms and just go ahead and give an amnesty. But without ending chain migration, mandating E-Verify, and ending the Visa Lottery, the DACA amnesty could result in virtually limitless new immigrants.

Do a Bing search for images of Honduran caravan and notice how many of these people are flying the flag of the country they are fleeing and claim they need asylum from.

Basically the deal they made with Reagan and tried with Bush the younger.

Bush Jr. wanted that amnesty worse than anyone in Congress.

And they’ll open a Honduran restaurant the minute they get here. Go see if you like Honduran food.

chain migration is a biggie including concerning Guatamala. Did you know we have over 1 million Guats here already? out of a total Guat population of 9 million? which opens us up to claims of ‘immediate family’ from the 5,000 or so insisting on coming just from this caravan and another million or so more still in Guat, even though the American people say, stay where you are.

It's all smoke and mirrors. There's a US military element permanently stationed at Soto Cano Airbase in the Comayagua valley. It was put there in the early 80s (by Reagan) as a bulwark against Daniel Ortega and the spread of Soviet Communism throughout the region. And their continued presence is critical to US interests in the region because as long as they're there, we can control that one C-5A-capable runway. And as long as we control that one C-5A-capable runway, we've got our stepping-off place for an invasion to prop up any government in the region. Or overthrow it.

The Honduran constitution forbids any permanent foreign military presence in their country so they've effectively been being bribed for the last 34 years to keep rewriting their government's definition of what "permanent" means. So no matter what it looks like above board, under the table the US will be doing whatever is not necessary to disturb that status quo.

I kind of doubt it, my son teases me because he says I like bland food.

In general, Central American food is very bland. Living in Costa Rica, we always said that you could have anything for breakfast, as long as it was black beans and rice.

You’d be surprised how much Central and South American food isn’t spicy. Same goes for Korean.

Al Jazeera’s propaganda is transparent. Only an uneducated fool would be sucked in by it. President Trump is doing more than any other recent president to stop the flood that’s funded by globalist tyrants.

Those of you who want to see the right, conservative kind of immigration reform need to get to the polls and vote in a couple of weeks. Those of you who want to keep and regain your freedoms should do the same. Don’t listen to the naysayers. They have only one goal with their nasty speech: to urge you to give up.

If it’s so bad there, why is that caravan so well dressed and equipped?

Interviews with the folks in the human caravan are saying that they’re coming for jobs, not asylum. Although, obviously, they’ll use the asylum card to get in, pop out a citizen in a US hospital, never leave and then bring the whole family in.
