Police say a middle school English teacher in Georgia has been found dead of an apparently self-inflicted gunshot wound after being accused of sexually assaulting a sixth-grade boy.
News outlets report a Gwinnett County police release says 28-year-old Zachary Meadors was found dead in a vehicle Wednesday afternoon.
A Dekalb County police warrant says the Freedom Middle School teacher was accused of sexually abusing a 12-year-old male student, and was wanted on charges of child molestation, computer pornography and child exploitation. He was placed on unpaid leave and scheduled to meet with district officials Monday, but didn’t show up.
A missing persons report filed by Meadors’ parents says he left several letters at their home that apologized for the “chaos he caused” and directed how to handle his finances.
Ummm? The MSM used to not publish the sex of the victim in this type of case. Is it because homosexual child molestation is more socially acceptable? /sarc

When I was about eight I told my Mom that I wanted to join the Cub Scouts.She said “no” but didn’t given an explanation.I’ve sometimes wondered if she did so because she was afraid that I’d encounter a perv Scout Leader.

Cub Scouts were led by Den Mothers, as I recall. Of course that was sixty years ago when perversion was kept in the gutter where it belonged.
I read the story elsewhere. The teacher repented to his family and the victim before committing murder.
They were led by Den Mothers. Two income families made that model obsolete.
We now tend to use the English Method - Pack and Dens meet in one location each week.
Announcements, and then you break up into Dens for Den activities.
Scouting, during WWII was almost an evening role call. In the morning it was school. If I child was absent, it generally meant they were dead from the bombings the night before. If you didn’t show up to Scouts, then you had likely died that day.
Talk about stiff upper lip. The English once had such grit, and guts.
Chances of being molested by a Scout leader now is very, very low. Youth protection training now forbids one to one texting between child and adult. If you contact a child, you MUST include another adult. Failure to do so and you are suspended.
I like it. They seem to be ahead of the game now.
Was there an apology to the victim? Or was he just distraught over being caught?
Sometimes it was fairly local, sometimes in a state or two away. It was always accompanied by a note that foul play was strongly suspected (ya think?) because he had a record of dealing drugs or was suspected of abusing children.
Of course, the cops would check it out, but they never did seem to find anything. We'd always joke "What a coincidence!" One guy in the same county even ended up being found in the woods bleeding from a less than professional castration job. The state police even asked my Dad to make some inquiries because he was the Justice of the Peace. Dad promised them he would do so, but, shazzam, couldn't find anything.
Dad never sought the office but agreed to take it because he was one of the few men in town with a college education. Some years later, he confessed to me that he had just made a few basic inquires because the local state troopers didn't expect more and certainly didn't want to arrest any leading citizen in our small town.
That's just the way things were handled back in those days.

Many years later I too was a Den leader at Wolf, Bear, and Lion Dens level. When WEBELOS became a Den, BSA required (if possible,) that the Den leader be male. It was assumed that by that age the boys became too rowdy for a mom to herd. I was one of those.
When Tiger Cubs began, there was one Tiger Coordinator , but the actual meeting hosting rotated though the parents. Tiger Cubs and a parent went to the meetings together. I started the Tiger Cub program in our Pack when my youngest son became old enough.
Only one of my sons choose to go on to Boy Scouts. His first Troop was the same Troop as President Ford had been in. Once when President Ford was in town, my son marched in the Parade right behind the Presidents limo.
