Atlanta forced to pay $1.2 million to fired Christian fire chief

In a big victory for freedom of religion and speech, the Atlanta city council agreed to pay former fire chief Kelvin Cochran $1.2 million in damages and attorneys' fees for firing him after he wrote a book expressing biblical views on sex and marriage.

Opposition to redefining marriage is not a "fringe" position, nor is it illegal. It is the deeply held belief of millions of people. But opposing the social justice agenda is tantamount to expressing "hate" and needs to be punished. The offender must be taught to "sensitize" himself against expressing politically incorrect views. In other words, he must be intimidated into keeping his mouth shut.

He’s still fired though and homosexual perversion continues in Atlanta.

Americans need to begin to push back against PC everywhere we see it. We need to look people in the eye and say Wait, did you just try to PC me?

God is not PC, and we will never get Him to apologize.

10 million, including a public apology, would have been a far more legitimate award. Atlanta got off far too easily.

Maybe Justice Kavanaugh ought to sue the women who accused him of sexual abuse and were proved to be liars one and all.

You misunderstand my post. I’m glad he got the award....however, he’s still fired. Until that atmosphere changes I don’t think we’ve won.

It would only be a “big victory for freedom of religion and speech” had the people that fired him also been fired and forced to pay the fine! Which, as noted was too low by at least a factor of 10!

As it is, the poor suffering Atlanta taxpayers have to pay the fine.

The “accountability” is misplaced, fer shure, fer shure!

And you can bet your hat, ass and overcoat that the next Atlanta public servant who writes a Christian book will get fired, as well!

A taxpayer in Atlanta should sue those who fired him.
