Facing the prospect of bruising electoral defeat in congressional elections, President Donald Trump said Tuesday that he wont accept the blame if his party loses control of the House in November, arguing his campaigning and endorsements have helped Republican candidates.
In a wide-ranging interview three weeks before Election Day, Trump told The Associated Press he senses voter enthusiasm rivaling 2016 and he expressed cautious optimism that his most loyal supporters will vote even when he is not on the ballot. He dismissed suggestions that he might take responsibility, as his predecessor did, for midterm losses or view the outcome as a referendum on his presidency.
No, I think Im helping people, Trump said. I dont believe anybodys ever had this kind of an impact.
Trump spoke on a range of subjects, defending Saudi Arabia from growing condemnation over the case of a missing journalist, accusing his longtime attorney Michael Cohen of lying under oath and flashing defiance when asked about the insult Horseface he hurled at Stormy Daniels, the porn actress who accuses him of lying about an affair.
Asked if it was appropriate to insult a womans appearance, Trump responded, You can take it any way you want.
Throughout much of the nearly 40-minute interview, he sat, arms crossed, in the Oval Office behind the Resolute Desk, flanked by top aides, including White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders and communications director Bill Shine. White House counselor Kellyanne Conway listened from a nearby sofa.
The interview came as Trumps administration was being urged to pressure Saudi Arabia to account for the disappearance of journalist Jamal Khashoggi. Instead, Trump offered a defense for the U.S. ally, warning against a rush to judgment, like with what happened with his Supreme Court nominee, Brett Kavanaugh, who was accused...

Drudge has his headline as:
TRUMP: DON'T BLAME ME IF DEMS TAKE HOUSE!
I think the AP did quite a bit of spinning of the President's comment. I think the AP's clear goal here is to harm and dampen Republican expectations weeks before the elections.
If Democrats take the House and pursue impeachment or investigations including seeking his long-hidden tax returns Trump said he will handle it very well.
The last line in post #1 is from the AP article, it is not my words:
If Democrats take the House and pursue impeachment or investigations including seeking his long-hidden tax returns Trump said he will handle it very well.

You think so, doctor?
The media give vile scum a bad name.
He’s right. They could have funded the wall, repealed Obamacare and all of the other things they promised. They didn’t, haven’t and will not. Can he run if they impeach? That would be fun. It would be so much more than fun, to vote him right back in their faces!
Yes, we dont want to insult vile scum, by comparing it to the media.
Read this article not long ago and could find the word “blame” quoted anywhere.
could not
The one thing that stands out for me in that article is this:
“Trump again cast doubt on climate change, suggesting, incorrectly, that the scientific community was evenly split on the existence of climate change and its causes. There are scientists on both sides of the issue, Trump said.”
If they are basing their ‘incorrect’ assertion on what they then quote Trump as saying - he is saying nothing about the quantity of each side in regards scientific communities split on climate change.
Just more fake news and spin. It’s repulsive.
Trump’s low-info supporters need to feel needed. A tingle of fear is a good idea.
We should not get overconfident.
I am feeling overconfident, I can tell you!
This is the Associated Press and the first line is a lie. They are like that.
Some folks don't deserve an interview because they will never be honest on any subject or with anyone from the conservative side.
“They could have funded the wall, repealed Obamacare and all of the other things they promised. “
Politics is arbitration writ large. Nobody gets what they want. Could Republicans have done better? Possibly, but while Republicans are cantankerous people with their own agendas, the Democrats are much more like the Borg; a single-headed monster. It’s hard to get a bunch of Republicans to agree, especially when they are inclined to bargain for unrelated stuff they want. (You agree to vote for my bridge to nowhere and I’ll vote to defund Obamacare. No bridge, no vote.) This is the nature of our politics and our system; especially, it’s the nature of the breed we call Republicans. There is no monolithic Republican or conservative view. Their views are a Bell curve ranging from Judge Roy Moore types on the Right to Susan Collins on the Left. Then, throw in a couple of McCain types and mix well. It would take a massive Republican majority to get enough conservative votes to accomplish what We The People think is necessary. That’s just the way it is.
Correct. And Drudge piled on. I guess he thinks he needs the internet hits.
Yup. No bias or spin there.
Why doesn’t the AP mention that Horseface lost her lawsuit against Trump and has to pay his legal fees?
I have literally not visited Drudge since the late Nineties.
When he could have said, "F*** off and die". He was very Presidential instead.
Even if they had funded the wall and repealed O- care, I’m not sure the apathetic masses remember to vote. Sometimes it doesn’t make a damn bit of difference.
As usual, the headlines are designed to get clicks. This is not what he said, period. They just make it up. And Drudge, being the clickmeister, uses the AP for his own enrichment as well.
