How to Ignore Climate Change
Psychology Today ^ | October 13, 2018 | by Grant Hilary Brenner MD, FAPA

Disturbing research on how climate change is hurting our emotional well-being.

Climate change is a major stressor in contemporary life. There is not a single day that we don’t read about the hazards of climate change, learn about a horrible disaster plausible connected with climate change. For those of us who accept the science, we often feel outrage at people - especially those in power - who not only refute climate change, but roll-back efforts intended to address the hazards facing our planet and species. In addition to outrage, shame, sorrow, helplessness, fear, disgust, resilience eroding cynicism, and the like... nothing good for emotional wellness.

What kind of animal are we to continue down this path, faced with what we now know?

There's no question, that at least subjectively the day-in-day-out barrage of terrifying news causes massive amounts of anxiety, whether you are someone who numbs out, worries actively, and/or is trying to do something about climate change. This is truly the stuff of nightmares, as anyone afflicted with apocalyptic nightmares can tell you.

Ongoing research can start to look at these factors so we can understand what is happening when climate change impairs emotional well-being and identify areas of intervention to make us more resilient. If climate change continues to escalate as scientists predict, and the United Nations stridently warns, and we fail to heed these warnings, we open ourselves up to unfathomable, preventable horrors which will affect everyone. Understanding why people refute climate change will help to develop ways to educate, and persuade.

The education system has made people weak-minded.

They can’t even handle normal weather variability.

“For those of us who accept the science...”
Your attempt to legitimize the hoax is duly noted. I will, however, require sosme actual scientific conclusions to consider your theory.
All those hotels on Miami Beach, that aren’t pumping water out of second floor windows, tend to cause me to not believe the hysteria.

I was parked for a half hour in a not great area, so I skipped the points. One of my cars is a manual and I sometimes leave it idling with the door wide open.

The “what kind of animal are we” line by the author tells you everything you need to know about the the mentality of leftists. I don’t want to be told what to think from someone who thinks humans are just high functioning monkeys.

Yes, winter’s been chapping my ass for seventy years.

Thank goodness the climate changes back to summer every twelve months.

And they don’t see anything wrong with a man who (may or may not have) had their gonads removed competing in a woman’s sporting event - and celebrating its almost inevitable victory.

Yeah, me too.

The only time I ever hear about climate change is from these wackos who make up this shit to try and prove it to those of us who can spot their long con from a mile off.

It's not working.

Not only is climate change not a major stressor or even a small stressor in my life, it is not even on my radar for things I think need to be dealt with.

False: Man has created “climate change” or can do anything about it...

Also false: Cutting CO2 in the atmosphere will be beneficial. Other than starving some plant species of nutrition it will have no effect.

Not one thinking human being refutes climate change.

Most intelligent human beings rejected man made global cooling {in the 1970s}, to then become global warming {in the 1980 & 1990s} to then become 'climate change' in this century.

Man's normal activities cannot produce global cooling and then the very same set of activities produce global warming, and then produce the generic climate change.

The reason we reject this theory is simple on it's face, the same action cannot produce opposite results, either cooler or warmer, not both.

The watermelons can't predict either one.

Dear Dr. Brenner,

Rational, logical thinking, combined with real, reproducible evidence eliminates these irrational fears and neuroses.

Yours truly,

Hey,
If you want to blame someone for the climate change, blame the sun.

Man has not made a fart’s worth of difference in the current climate.

Let us count the money made in grants and BS EPA laws that has been wasted on this boondoggle.

Follow the money.

roll-back efforts intended to address the hazards facing our planet and caused by our species.

And since we are the cause, we have to go.

I can rather relate to this. When I dream it is always something weird, often related to when I was back on the job. However,I am constantly reading about this climate change(human-caused variety)crap ,but never do my weirdest dreams ever have anything to do with climate change. I guess that means I never worry about it,because we can’t do anything about it anyway.
