Trump Defies California Senators With 9th Circuit Judge Nominations

After months of negotiations and delays, the White House is moving to fill California’s three vacancies on the influential 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals — over the strenuous objections of the state’s two Democratic senators.

President Trump’s nominees for the appeals court — litigators Daniel Collins and Kenneth Lee and Assistant United States Attorney Patrick Bumatay — are all based in Southern California, are prominent members of the conservative Federalist Society, and have worked for Republican administrations.

None of the three were approved by Feinstein or Harris via a process known as a “blue slip,” the senators’ offices confirmed Thursday.

“Last night the White House moved forward without consulting me, picking controversial candidates from its initial list and another individual with no judicial experience who had not previously been suggested,” Feinstein said in a statement.

“Instead of working with our office to identify consensus nominees for the 9th Circuit, the White House continues to try to pack the courts with partisan judges who will blindly support the President’s agenda, instead of acting as an independent check on this Administration,” Lily Adams, Harris’ communications director, said in a statement.

Traditionally, presidents have deferred to home state senators when nominating federal judges, agreeing not to nominate people unless those senators returned their blue slip in support of the prospective judge.

President Trump and Senate Republicans, however, have done away with that custom, angering Democrats as they pushed forward controversial nominees for appeals court posts in Ohio, Minnesota and Wisconsin.

“Traditionally, presidents have deferred to home state senators when nominating federal judges, agreeing not to nominate people unless those senators returned their blue slip in support of the prospective judge.”

I can hear Trump in my head saying, “Why? Why does it have to done that way when the Constitution says differently?”

It takes 26 Red States for the Republicans to create a permanent firewall in the Senate to ensure the Judiciary doesn’t become the property of the uncivil radicals.

The following 22 States seem to fit the bill long-term, though they have some challenges (such as Doug Jones in Alabama) to cleanup.

Alaska, Utah, Wyoming, Idaho, Montana
North Dakota, South Dakota, Nebraska, Kansas, Indiana Missouri, Kentucky, West Virginia, Oklahoma, Texas
Arkansas, Tennessee, Louisiana, Alabama, Georgia
South Carolina, Mississippi

Which 4 (better to plan for 6+) of the following 9 States can definitely be this way long term if the conservatives will do their work.

Ohio, Florida, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Iowa, Wisconsin, Arizona, Virginia, Nevada

Here are 9 tougher possibilities.

Minnesota, Michigan, Colorado, New Hampshire, Maine, New Jersey, Delaware, Oregon, New Mexico

These 10 seem like lost causes as they’d vote for extremist Democrats shamelessly if their nutcases kept shooting more Republican congressmen every day like they did to Scalise last year & if they keep picking candidates like those 2 NJ US Senators, Keith Ellison, and Bill Clinton.

California, New York, Vermont, Mass, CT, RI, Maryland, Washington, Hawaii, Illinois

The #1 priority for the Federalists (and others who care about the Constitution being followed) needs to be to clean up the roster in those first 22 States

Joe Manchin of WV
Lisa Murkowski of AK
Doug Jones of AL
Heitkamp of ND
Tester of MT
McCaskill of MO
Donnelly of IN

Did I miss any big problems in those 22 states?

With a solid firewall we can ensure that the Constitution will be followed by the Courts.

“By dividing the Ninth Circuit into regional divisions that effectively function as individual appellate courts, we open the door to determining whether a circuit split would be feasible while, at the same time, preserve the current Ninth Circuit as a single appellate court.”

This is another “half-measure” that would be subject to RAT revision at a future date with a whole lot less “work” than if they would simply make the 9th into three new Appeals Courts. As always, the Senate never really wants to do the heavy lifting necessary to fix what’s wrong with our country. I have a better idea, repeal the 17th Amendment and “fix” what’s wrong with the Senate. The direct election of Senators was not ever a good idea.

“...and the Democrat Party is reduced to permanent minority status.”

I know I say we need to crush them to DUST every chance I get, but I’m starting to think that having a few of them still hanging around, IMPOTENT and POWERLESS would be much more enjoyable! ;)

I got your consensus right here, Lily.

The Blue Slip is a traditional courtesy of the Senate. But since Feinstein and Harris just got done smearing an entirely innocent man as a gang rapist, I think traditional courtesies are by the boards.

Hillary just explained that civility is impossible. Who is Trump to argue?

Good. Cram them down their throats.

Partner, we agree with ya 100%.

Let Diane Feinstein and Kamela Harris drown in their crocodile tears. We have heard thru the grapevine that Kamela wants to run for the POTUS position. She will lose big time if she gets the Rat nomination!!!

BTW, I think they are some of the worst senators in the entire nation. Of course, that is not saying much.

Amazing. Harris is an even bigger dimwit than many other prominent Dems, and that is not easy to do!

In the past, a person like her would utilize her race and sex as weapon in a candidacy, hoping a pussified Republican opponent would treat her with kid gloves so as not to be insensitive or open to accusations of being sexist or racist.

Trump doesn’t seem to care...if she is depending on that ploy...it won’t work if he runs.

BOO-HOO.... Cry me a river. The thing to really do is to break up the 9th Circuit into some smaller courts and do away with the LIBTARD contingent there forever.

The CIRCUIT Act sounds like a good move.

Change back the 9th CIRCUS back to 9th Circuit

Good. So sick of “customs” and all the garbage built up in the process since the founding of the Republic.

We win, they lose, is Dan Bongino’s phrase. And I add, if we do not win, the Republic will end under hate-filled, Republic hating fiends who use mob action to try and fulfill their lust to rule over US and silenxe US forever. The demonrat party IS the ENEMY of the American Republic.

The Democrat Party was not destroyed after it fought a war to destroy the union. It was out of power for about 20 yrs but recovered thanks to racists in the South.
