President Donald Trump and rapper Kanye West spoke to reporters in the Oval Office Thursday afternoon before their lunch meeting.
West, who has sparked outrage from some on the left with his outspoken support for the president, riffed on a series of topics, including racism, tax breaks, education, prison reform and gun control.
The problem is illegal guns, illegal guns is the problem. Not legal guns. We have the right to bear arms," West said when a reporter asked him about the debate over gun violence in America and gun control.
West, a Chicago native, said he and the president will discuss ways to combat the Windy City's ongoing gun violence epidemic.
Trump described West as a "smart cookie" who "gets it," and when asked if the 21-time Grammy Award winner could be a future presidential candidate, he replied, "Could very well be."
West concluded the entertaining news conference by declaring, "I love this guy right here," and giving the president a hug.

Chicago and Illinois need to empower their citizens, including black citizens, to keep and bear arms legally. End the laws banning guns, prohibiting or making difficult concealed or open carry. Give black residents of the city the same rights as other Americans outside the city enjoy. End the racism of control.
Kanye’s awakening couldn’t have come at a better time.
However how small, there’s no doubt that a certain percentage of the millennial population is listening to him, and are being sparked to think for themselves for the first time in their lives.
I don’t see anything but Win, all the way around.
I like his tune, but there is no such thing as an “illegal gun.”
Illinois does not ban particular guns. ARs, AK variants, FNs, Glocks, whatever, are not banned at the State level. Nor do we have idiotic magazine capacity restrictions of any kind.
CCW is available on a Shall Issue to any legal resident who passes the classes. Although I do think the fees are far too high.
Once its issued the list of Prohibited Places is reasonable and there are remarkably few no guns signs to be found, even in downtown Chicago.
The problem isnt our laws here. Its our people.

The reverberation we are hearing is the concussion of liberal heads exploding.
LOVING IT!
I don't call every hotel/motel public lodging place in Lake County "reasonable".
Ping.
Dont know about Lake County, I dont spend a lot of time there. But if theyre privately owned dont patronize then. Problem solved.
Or ignore the stupid signs. All they can do is ask you to leave.

The issue, and it is a good one, is that many blacks couldn’t pass a criminal background check unless the bribed a clerk in the office.
The culture of petty criminality and distrust they’ve adopted has made it harder to pull themselves out of the situation they are in. The left would call this racism because they can’t get a CCW permit because of their record.
Realistically, they are better off moving somewhere where there is less crime and walking a bit more of the straight and narrow
Reality check. Are there any gun dealers in Chicago? No.
Several years ago Kayne West jumped on stage and tried to take Taylor Swift s award because everyone knew Beyoncé won it. Funny how times change. Swift is liberal traitor throwing in the mob and Kayne is having lunch with Kayne in the WH.
Are there any gun dealers in Chicago? No.
But there are in less than an hour drive give or take. Cabelas in Hoffman is 45 minutes from the Loop depending on traffic. GAT is 2 exits west.
So NBD.

And if they don’t have a car? Or don’t want to travel a couple of hours round-trip?
He’s nuttier than a squirrel’s turd. Don’t get attached to him just because he’s making conservative noises. Like as not, tomorrow he’ll be running for office in the Flat Earth Society and the Committee to Stop Continental Drift.
So....what about Kanye?
True but he tends to speak in shorthand phrases. He probably meant “guns held by prohibited persons”, or “guns used for illegal purposes”.
Not wanting to start a different debate, and I may be in the minority on this issue but I tend to think (and I bet even he would agree) that even felons have to have some right to self defense. The problem is not guns, it is the manner and reason they are used. And not wanting to start even a third debate, you could take away the reason most guns are used in unlawful circumstances by removing the profit incentive created by the types of drug laws we have. I am not in favor of legalizing drugs, but some form of decriminalization or detente that can remove the profit out of drug dealing will instantly solve most of the gun violence problems we have. Bottom line is many if not most shootings are by drug gangs either trying to eliminate competitors, trying to claim drug turf, and revenge over drug turf shootings. Nobody shoots other people for the right to sell apples and celery on corner or in a neighborhood.
One day the taxes and fees for guns and gun permits will be struck down by the court. There are no poll taxes. There is no need for a permit to print a newspaper. There should be no tax on guns or ammunition as this is an unconstitutional infringement on the RKBA. Keep hope alive!
And since I am in the mood to divert thread topic... if we are going to have voter ID laws then there should be no cost to obtain an ID card. It is tantamount to a poll tax. I could be wrong but I think most voter ID laws include some mechanism to enable a vote to be cast without having to pay for an ID.
Ditto
Ps it is NOT ‘gun’ violence. Guns don’t get violent. They don’t commit crimes. People do. A 5ool is just a tool
