"How do I know that the government is telling the truth?"

That's easy, if you were told something by the government, then its a lie.

The trick is in determining the percentage and the motivation.

Bad engineering is the most likely culprit.

…or poor maintenance practices, inadequate training, in-transit damage, improper storage/warehousing, counterfeit parts, poor tech data, production deficiencies…

Business Week originally disclosed this around 2008 or so. Now the original article has been scrubbed from the internet. Just a coincidence, I’m sure.

Nuts, Bolts, and assorted screws from China are worthless. They strip with the least amount of pressure. Their tools are no better. There is no quality control, just quality production of crap.

By 1945 they were producing a much better one every 58 minutes at Willow Run.

While my Dad was over in the 8th Air Force my Mom was working at Willow Run riveting upper wing panels on B-24s.

Fuel tube close to engine install ( Pratt & Whitney ) or airframer part, aka Lockheed or other sub contractor.

FWIW...

I was involved tangentially in a like issue that almost grounded 1/4th of the flying airline fleet, it was a like type of line. We were all put on alert all hands on deck, come in on Sat etc you may be needed an engineering / design correction. It turned out to be someone made a design change back too something that didn't work 20 yrs earlier to said part that played with it's stack up. One old school engineer sitting in a cube who was there back in the day saved the day, when they asked him. They went back to the design that worked, rather than some newbee revision.

It could be something like this, not a total design needed...

Parts is parts. If you need a part and don’t have the part, you make a new part. Not difficult.

But it’s a good excuse for the AF brass to use when they want a new toy.

After wondering what military pieces have parts from China, We The People would be wise to check where our prescriptions are manufactured. Side effects anyone? Wonder what’s in the fillers? Read the fine print on your OTC generic medications purchased everywhere not just WalMart. Surprise, most are made in China!!

President Trump, please bring the manufacturing of prescriptions back into the USA.

Actually the Q anon researchers have found that Dianne Feinstein has a 30 year history with China. Her driver for 20 years got caught spying but hey, if they were all working together, let them bunk together.

Grounding a new addition to the fleet is pretty common when there’s a problem isn’t it?

There was a claim the AF could not build more aircraft (F22) nor get spare parts. I am not sure what the truth, but this
covers the Administrations of Bill Clinton-George W Bush-Obama.
