Missouri judge rules officials can't tell voters photo ID required to cast ballot

A Missouri judge on Tuesday ruled that state election officials can no longer spread materials that indicate voters must provide a photo ID in order to cast a ballot, Reuters reported.

The news outlet reported that Judge Richard Callahan, who sits on the Cole County Circuit Court, ruled that the materials must also specify other forms of identifications that voters can show. He additionally wrote that state authorities can't require people who are otherwise qualified to vote to sign a sworn statement.

The ruling effectively blocked a portion of Missouri's voter identification law one month before November's midterm elections.

Priorities USA, a Democratic super PAC that filed the lawsuit in June, hailed the ruling as a win for voting rights, Reuters reported.

Missouri Secretary of State John Ashcroft, who administers state elections, told the St. Louis Post-Dispatch in a statement that his office was "pleased the court found that the voter ID law is constitutional, and the judge did not find anyone was prevented from voting."

"We plan to seek a stay and appeal the decision to a higher court, which we believe will overturn the judge’s errors," he added.

The Missouri ruling came the same day that the Supreme Court declined to toss out an appeals court order that allows North Dakota to enforce its voter ID requirement during the 2018 elections.

A group of Native American residents sought to dismiss the order, which requires voters to present identification that includes a current residential street address.

The group argued that the rule disenfranchises a disproportionate share of the Native American population, because many of them live on reservations without standard addresses.

“Voting rights” being that illegal criminal aliens will get to vote in elections they never should be allowed to vote in. Must be Odungo or Bush appointed judges, Quality D-.

That’s exactly what this is about.

Completing the Bush Plan for North Mexico (aka USA)

As far as I know, there are no reservations in Missouri. That’s how the state kept out Indian casinos.

The poll workers in Idaho take your photo id, look up the page where you are listed and have you sign next to your name BEFORE they hand you a ballot. You're identified and you sign so you vote exactly once.

Who would object to voter ID?

Other than someone who wants voting to be devalued.

Let’s see...

Have to show photo ID to:

Board a plane
Cash a check
Use a credit card
Buy a car
Rent a car
Rent an apartment
Enter a school
Buy alcohol
Buy cigarettes

But showing a photo ID to vote is verboten. It infringes on someone’s right to stuff ballot boxes with as many votes as they want.

This is one very confused article, hanamizu. LOL North Dakota’s state law is upheld by the Supreme Court, rejecting the excuse of ‘no standard addresses.’

And Missouri’s law is the messy one, yes? It reads like they cannot show information about Voter ID and yet they can show information about documents for proof for eligibility for voting...? The Judge/s really made a Justice John Roberts type of ruling!!

That's pretty good. But what do they do about the dead voters still on the rolls that "show up"? For example, in Florida Daffy Duck and Minnie Mouse are actually registered.

This would be an excellent case for the SCOTUS to take. We have conflicting rulings from various courts. Time to start reaping the benefits of pushing Gorsuch and Kavanaugh through. The SCOTUS should uphold Official photo ID requirements in order to vote.

The vast majority of the public supports it too.

I’m not surprised; it used to be illegal to be an Indian in Missouri. Many, many Indians in the old days refused to identify themselves as Indians, out of fear of persecution. My father-in-law, God rest his soul, who was a full-blood Loyal Shawnee, said that when he was growing up in Oklahoma, Indians were treated worse than blacks used to be treated. And that was when the Klan was still active in Oklahoma.

So why is Ashcroft appealing if he is “pleased” with the judge’s ruling? Very confused

Why do we let liberals get away with calling the need for photo ID, "voter suppression"?

We need to be loud and clear that opposing the need for photo ID is VOTER FRAUD!

I think they wanted a separate voter ID, and were told they must accept any legal ID card. I don’t have a problem with that. It’s those places that don’t require any ID at all, that are most open for fraud. Of course, an illegal with fake ss number can get a driver’s license, so if they’re bold enough to do THAT, they’re bold enough to lie about being a citizen at the polling place.
