"'Exclusive House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy Introducing Bill to Fully Fund Border Wall, Making Midterm Immigration Referendum"" House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy will introduce a bill this week that will fully fund President Donald Trumps planned wall along the U.S. border with Mexico, thereby setting the midterm elections up as a referendum on immigration policy, Breitbart News has learned exclusively.
Outgoing Speaker Paul Ryan hinted at a post-election border wall funding fight on Monday.
We intend on having a full-fledged discussion on how to complete our mission to secure the border, and yes, we will have a fight about this, Ryan said of the wall fight that looms at a news conference on Monday.

I hope it works. It’s time.
The Build the Wall, Enforce the Law Act
“$23.4 billion more than what has already gone to the wall effortas well as several other enforcement measures” (Kate’s Law, Gang crackdown, penalties on Sanctuary Cities).
“the bill will be enforcement and security only” (Does not mention DACA, Visa changes, or immigration policy changes).
The article does not say over how many years the funding would be spread - but there is nothing at all in the bill for Democrats. No compromise.
The House will pass it, but the Senate will not. If sixty Senators can be mustered after the election, the new House of Representatives would have to pass it again (no guarantee).
Regardless of what happens with this bill, there will still be a fight over FY19 wall funding after the midterms (DHS appropriation bill).
Elections are to close for this.
Big money, big ag, and big business DO NOT want to stop this. The screaming about tight labor markets are pushing them to demand less enforcement, not more.
Excellent timing.
Take a close look at the labor market right now.
3% unemployement (and yes, that number is fake) means that to get more workers to job X, you must increase wages. No one in Wall Street wants to do that.
All that lobbying money is going to stopping deportation and enforcement. Trump hit the ag economy pretty hard, and cutting out their illegal labor would move a lot of red states blue. Businesses are looking at having to give real wage increases for the first time in decades, and are starting to realize that the only give is in upper lever salaries and perqs (Not something they will touch). Automation is proving much more expensive than planned and doesn’t provide the return promised (instead of replacing say 5 minimum wage works with one robot, you replace 3 and have to hire or contract people to keep said robot going).
They are still going to need 60 votes in the US Senate to pass this bill?
post-election border wall funding fight on Monday
*************
Gonna wait until after November 6th election.....
Why not Pre-Election?
Looks like McCarthy has a pair. After Kavanaugh and the results in current pre-election polls, the GOP Representatives and Senators are primed for battle. Victory is contagious.
About time.
Build the Wall!
“I suspect amnesty and open borders Ryan and his deputies are simply using this shiny object (wall funding) to sneak through their pro-chamber of commerce cheap labor legislation before they leave.”
According to the article, there is nothing in the bill for policy (no DACA, visas, or immigration issues) - no tradeoffs for the Democrats.
But there is no chance of this becoming law (needs 60 Senators) - it is just an election statement. The House members will go on record voting for it, showing their commitment to the issue, if they keep the House.
It would have to be voted on again in January, if enough Senators would then support it. If Republicans keep the House and increase in the Senate, we will likely see a wall funding bill of some sort - that is the one that the cheap labor lobby will try to insert their mischief.
So much depends on how the midterms turn out.
If McCarthy wasnt worried about wanting to be speaker this would have never come up. He is from what once was a solid red district that is turning purple due to illegal immigration. Believe me hes scared of peeving them off. I liv in his district nd it has turned to crap due to illegal immigration and gangs.
Yay finally!
“I think they are really worried about the house if they are willing to put up a base kiss like this.”
From Xlintstone through the Nairobi Kid, I called four of six elections wrong. I wasn’t confident about Bush, either.
However, I called the 2016 election a few days after Trump entered the race, which gives me false confidence. Therefore, I’ll put it on the line with a prediction that the Republicans will pummel the dims in this one.
Pray. Vote.
Nice but this looks like yet another example of GOP election year talk that never materializes after the election. Conservative voters have had too much of this type of nonsense. We’ll believe it if it actually passes.
If he believed that the Dems would have the House comes November, he wouldn’t be worried about being Speaker. The Kavanaugh victory and poll advances emboldens him to worry about being speaker, rather than worrying about p!ssing off illegal immigrants and their supporters. Victory is contagious, and it’s ours.
Awesome!!! Hope Rick Scott fully supports the effort. You want to be in the Senate? OK...
No walfelling, Rick!!!
Setup to make McCarthy appear palatable for the speakership.
They introduce the bill one month before the election. Are they serious or just more window dressing?
Of course, you have to get it past the Senate even if you pass it in the House.
I’ve seen these political tricks so many times I’ve grown tired of them.
They are going to make the left vote it down just before the election.
Icing on the cake.
Lay it to them~!
