It is very informative, and, as others have noted, farming is an occupation with a lot of inherent stress and uncertainty, as well as factors such as social isolation and more difficult access to medical services.

However, the general impression is that the writer believes government can somehow eliminate all these problems.

I thought the answer was counseling and social support. If we look at how the VA is handling veteran suicide we know that depending on the gov’t won’t work. There was a summit in regards to veteran suicide and the conclusion was to get the private organizations together and find out which were having the best results then sharing the “therapies”.

I was just wondering how many farmers are veterans. There is also the problem with access. Kind of like, if in Alaska you need to know how to fly a plane.
