They are trying to reach consensus on what it would mean — and what it would take — to limit the warming of the planet to just 1.5 degrees Celsius, or 2.7 degrees Fahrenheit, when 1 degree Celsius has already occurred and greenhouse gas emissions remain at record highs.

Idiots! They trot out this crap. If they truly want to do something, they should give up air conditioning. That's right, humanity did without it for thousands of years. Turn down their water heaters, down from the hot setting, or completely turn them off - take cold showers. Stop using kitchen ovens - they should be eating salads anyway and not meat. Stop jetting around the world while polluting the atmosphere with jet exhaust heat. Hypocrites!

I’d like to grow bananas in Kentucky.
I’d like to got o the beach in Thomasville, Georgia.
I’d like New York city to be under water.
I’d like less snow in Colorado.

Seems global warming would be great for me.

Then they’ll board private jets or private charter flights and waste a million tons of jet fuel to fly back home.

I might be a teen, but how did they get to the conference? Did they walk to it? No I bet they all took planes to it. I bet it was private planes, too. No deal, jackasses...

Ironic that this is taking place in Incheon in the ROK. I’ve been watching the LPGA tournament from that very location for a couple of days and most all the players, caddies and spectators are dressed for cold, rainy conditions.

Wait a minute here. Let me see if I got this straight.

They have predicted that a climate related problem may occur.
Then they made estimates about what we would need to do to prevent the possible climate problem.
And now they want to raise a global alarm because we are short of their estimates.

Would it not be better to raise an alarm when your actual predicted climate problem actually occurred. Or maybe when it achieves scientific validity ?

Very bad news: it’ll be cold this winter, then get hot next summer.

Get used to it; it’s been going on for thousands of years.

An increase of 1.5 degrees C.

Isn’t the margin of error something like 10-15 degrees ?

> Isn’t the margin of error something like 10-15 degrees ?

For future warming the margin is around 0.5 or 2.5 degrees depending on if you pay attention to observational studies or models.

For 20+ years, the IPCC said the expected warming is 2-4 degrees (some outliers went to 6) with a most likely increase of around 3.1. The last IPCC report said the range is 1.6-4 and the models are so all-over-the-place that there is no most likely estimate.

And many observational studies (not models) find 1.2-1.8 degrees of warming from a doubling of carbon.

With that science in existence (from the IPCC even), the Paris COP was in trouble trying to continue arguing that we need to “do something” to prevent 2.0 degrees warming. As much as they twist numbers, they couldn’t credibly warn about 2.0 degrees. So they claimed 1.5 is the new danger point since science still supports the possibility of hitting 1.5.

It’s too late. The world ended in 2012. Movie scientists have already declared it.

Now that’s an insult to the mental faculties of this panel.

LOL

Used to enjoy watching those folks.

There is a claim that Nostradamus predicted the world would end in 2018. Various folks have interpreted it as being due to climate change.

This prediction is in trouble too.

The IPCC has about fifty “scientists” on their staff, who do the writing. The other couple thousand are politicians and bureaucrats. The IPCC is after all, a policy organ, not a scientific one. It was established based on the false premise that AGW was a fact, not a hypothesis, and its mission was to produce policy recommendations, not scientific findings.
