The Gatestone Institute ^ | October 2, 2018 | Uzay Bulut

While Turkey's latest mosque is being inaugurated in Germany, the greatest Christian Orthodox theological school has remained closed for almost 50 years by the order of the Turkish government. Moreover, less than a kilometer away from the shuttered Christian seminary, a major new center of Islamic studies spanning a total area of 200 acres is scheduled to be built.

The Greeks of Turkey -- the remnants of the once great Byzantine Empire -- are a severely persecuted and even almost completely exterminated people. They have been exposed, among other crimes against humanity, to a genocide, pogroms and forced deportations at the hands of multiple Turkish governments. As a result, there are only around 1,300 Greeks left in Istanbul. But in spite of its tiny size, the dying Greek community still suffers from discrimination and violations of its rights.

The Turkish government spends hundreds of millions of dollars

Islam is like a malignant tumor that you can't cure. It's leaders are oppressive, you will obey. If you don't, killing you is not out of the question.

America cannot hide the bad treatment of women by the men; exhibit A...Congressman Keith Ellison and deputy chair of the DNC.

The Turkish government spends hundreds of millions of dollars

Which AMERICANS help fund every single day.

BOYCOTT ALL TURKISH GOODS. Check the labels at WalMart and Target. Many textile imports are from Turkey. check dates, apricots, olive oil, hummus and bottled/canned mixes like olives, peppers, pesto, etc.

If it says Turkey...put it back.

If you understand Islam this makes sense.
There is only one God (Allah) and everyone on the planet should be worshipping Him, and following the examples set by His prophet Muhammad.

This leaves no room for tolerance of any other beliefs in supernatural beings.

And, Muslims should never adapt to non- Muslim laws and governance. -Tom

Christianity has a weird way of flourishing in the face of persecution.

There is only one God (Allah)

The only correct translation of the Islamic "creed"!

And the only correct translation of the infamous Allahu Akbar! is "Allah is the GREATEST!"

“Never understood why we called them friends.”

Turkey used to be a fairly OK place. It had pretty good relations with Israel, a solid desire to become Western, and was quite the buffer against the Soviet Union (and other threats in the area).

Ergodan and his political party, together with a resurgence of political Islamism, have radically taken the country in a different direction.

I actually vacationed in Turkey ~20 years ago. Walked around as an observant Jewish man, an Israeli, and locals were eager to show me the sites and the Jewish history of their towns.

Not so much today.

Gee Muslims are building mosques over the previous sites of worship in conquered territory.... They’ve only been doing that since the year 570.

I’m shocked.

Does Turkey declare separation of state and church? If it does, what kind of say their government may have in the style of the Oecumenical Patriarch?
