A mutual friend of Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh and Deborah Ramirez, one of his sexual misconduct accusers, has asked the FBI to investigate text messages that Kavanaugh and his allies sent to friends before her story was made public.
Kerry Berchem, who was at Yale when Kavanaugh is accused of exposing himself to Ramirez, emailed FBI agent J.C. McDonough asking the agency to review those messages as part of its reopened background investigation of Kavanaugh, NBC News reported Monday.
NBC reported that text messages between Berchem and Karen Yarasavage, a friend of Kavanaugh, suggest the high court nominee was discussing Ramirez's accusations with former classmates before the publication of a New Yorker piece about the allegations. Yarasavage reportedly said in one message that Kavanaugh tried getting her to publicly defend him.
Berchem told NBC News in a statement that she hasn't drawn conclusions about the messages but believes "they merit investigation by the FBI and the Senate."
I understand that President Trump and the U.S. Senate have ordered an FBI investigation into certain allegations of sexual misconduct by the nominee Brett Kavanaugh. I have no direct or indirect knowledge about any of the allegations against him," Berchem said.
"However, I am in receipt of text messages from a mutual friend of both Debbie and mine that raise questions related to the allegations. I have not drawn any conclusions as to what the texts may mean or may not mean but I do believe they merit investigation by the FBI and the Senate," she added.
Ramirez told The New Yorker that Kavanaugh pushed his exposed genitals into her face during a party in their freshman year at Yale. Kavanaugh has denied the allegations, as well as separate accusations of sexual misconduct made by Christine Blasey Ford and Julie Swetnick.
NBC News reported that the memo Berchem sent to McDonough, the FBI agent, indicates that there are multiple friends of Kavanaugh who haven't yet been but interviewed but who may have information about the alleged incident.
While under oath, Kavanaugh told the Senate Judiciary Panel that the first time he heard of Ramirez's story was from The New Yorker article.
Berchem told NBC News that she resent her memo on Monday to McDonough because she hadn't yet heard back from him.
Im sure hes really busy and expect that hell get back to me, Berchem said.
Kavanaugh's nomination to the Supreme Court was approved in the Judiciary Committee on Friday in a party-line vote. But Republican Sen. Jeff Flake (Ariz.) called for an FBI investigation into the new allegations to take place before the full Senate votes on Kavanaugh's confirmation to the Supreme Court.
President Trump announced Friday that he would ask the FBI to conduct a new investigation into Kavanaugh focusing on the accusations.
The White House on Monday authorized the FBI to expand the investigation from an initial limited list of witnesses to anyone deemed appropriate.
Please make it stop.
It’s all scripted out, and won’t stop until they overwhelm the entire system and get people so frustrated they give up, quit or start to believe the lies.
Thanks Flake! For allowing more crap, lies to continue.
Is GMAB generally accepted as a shortcut for Give me a break ?
If not, then this whole Kavanaugh affair should be memorialized by a greater use of the term.
from another thread
Of course he knew about the allegation before the story was published, theres a statement from him in the actual New Yorker story. What he said in the committee is he had never heard the allegation until the New Yorker story, not the actual publication of the story
There were no text messages in the mid eighties. So they wouldnt be current at time of supposed incident
Perjury traps over when he first heard of what exactly -— See how this crap works? They can destroy anybody if you let this get ridiculous.
So now it will move to “What did he know and when did he know it?”
If the roles were reversed and it was a liberal candidate the Dems and press and their supporters would be howling about intimidation and all that.
Yes there is a denial statement from kavanaugh in the new yorker article. That is not at odds with him saying he first heard of it in the New Yorker story.
Commonly known as "asking a former friend for a favor".
Apparently, that's illegal now.
Look to what multi million dollar job Flake ends up with down the road.
Anyone who makes a claim against Kavanaugh at this point ought to be arrested. The time for good-faith claims is long past, leaving only bad-faith claims - criminal acts - left to be played out.
All he supposedly did was dangle his privates at a party. And then he was embarrassed 10 years later. I call BS.
Colleges are full of streakers and guys and girls exposing themselves for shock value. This is so dumb.
I can’t believe him, he’s got the spine of a noodle. Two midget dykes shriek at him in an elevator and he melts like chocolate on a stove “oooo don’t huuurrrrt meeee!”
“Ramirez told The New Yorker that Kavanaugh pushed his exposed genitals into her face during a party in their freshman year at Yale.”
What was she doing on her knees in front of Kavanaugh ? That’s the only way they would be in ‘her face’ when he exposed himself.
So why did these women not come before the committee earlier. So now we know why Ramei would not talk to the committee only the FBI. I am going to assume these “mutual” friends of Ramirez and Kavanaugh are most likely better friends with Ramirez and they are not playing their part of the scheme.
Seems to me had this been talked about in the hearing Judge Kavanaugh would have addressed it.
Everybody wants something. Communist dems in hell (where else would they be?) want ice water for instance.
I guess everybody’s the boss of the FIB now....
