What To Do To Help Survivors After The Questioning Of Christine Blasey Ford
Forbes ^ | September 28, 2018 | Marlena Hartz

“I am terrified.”

This is how Christine Blasey Ford felt, as she told 17 men and four women on the Senate Judiciary Committee about Brett Kavanaugh’s alleged sexual assault against her in high school.

Andrea Constand—one woman who Bill Cosby drugged and raped—"felt traumatized all over again" when she had to face her rapist in court.

“I had to relive every moment of the sexual assault in horrifying detail in front of Mr. Cosby and his lawyers," she wrote in her harrowing victim impact statement. "I had to watch Cosby make jokes and attempt to degrade and diminish me, while his lawyers belittled and sneered at me. It deepened my sense of shame and helplessness.”

Constand and Ford’s ordeals this week in the searing public eye laid bare the necessity to stop the retraumatization of sex-crime survivors and end the epidemic of sexual violence in the United States.

Hours after Ford’s gut-wrenching testimony, the Senate committee approved Kavanaugh’s Supreme Court nomination, making it all the more urgent to ask: What can we do to make it easier for survivors of sexual violence to seek justice?

What the hell did they expect?

Was Rachel Mitchell supposed to hold Christine Ford's hand, serve her chamomile tea and soothe her with praise for being such a brave woman?

I would think women these days would be insulted to be described as fragile creatures incapable of overcoming tragic and traumatic experiences without coddling!

I think Steve Forbes left the magazine.. I may be wrong, but if he did...Forbes magazine will be just another rag.

I recall there was an offer to have ford’s testimony done in private in california.

dim’s memories seem as short as their intellect.

I propose a new word within our national lexicon:

Fordicate (verb): To use sexual innuendo based on unprovable allegations, to destroy an opponent for political reasons.

“Stormy Daniels fordicated Trump.”

“Annita Hill fordicated Clarence Thomas.”

“James Carville fordicated Paula Jones.” (Credit to Palmer)

They did offer a private session in CA.
Problem was she had already been pre-staged to Delaware.
And it appears no one told Dr. Ford about that.

They wanted the show they presented.

Sorry, but our judicial system provides for the defendant a vigorous defense and cross examination of the accuser and other witness’s. Anything short of that is unjust.
Women can also be defendants in sexual assault trials.

Everyone gets to face their accusers. We get trials and people testify.

Deal with it, or don’t.

Probably the best thing for genuine survivors of sexual assault is for fraudulent ones to be exposed and punished to diminish their frequency.

The difference Andrea is that your case was real Whereas Blowsy’s was fake.

It is time to also recognize the impact of underage drinking on sexual crime rates. The subject is taken to lightly and schools and parents need to step up and start addressing the problem.
I will never forget one teenage keg party that was held in the front yard of a house across the street from the Mayor of San Diego. The mayors security detail finally broke it up by removing the tapper. The house was owned by a big shot lawyer.

If I learned anything from To Kill A Mockingbird it's that women never lie about rape.

Intercultural communications? Isn’t that what you do when you call tech support these days?

I’m glad I do not have sons.

The “metoo” movement is essentially setting every male up for prosecution. All it takes is a pissed off, crazy woman. Good thing none of us know any.

I don’t think I’ve ever seen a more contrived “performance” in my life, as Cristina Ford. If something ever deserved the “Rotten Tomato” award, it was her “testimony”.

It was if she had been hypnotized by a carnival hypnotist into thinking she as a “7-year-old” who just witnessed someone tearing off the head of her Barbie Doll.

Piecemeal, disconnected, and uncertain...except - of course- on the “key” facts, like being “one hundred percent sure it was Brett Kavanaugh” who accosted her over 35 years ago, and yet, was unsure about any other “facts” about the alleged event.

When she asked for “caffeine” at the beginning of the testimony, I’m surprised the dems didn’t set out for a “latte” from Starbucks.

It was a pat, for-sure, story - supposedly - but her ambulance chasing lawyers kept having to butt in the coach her on what to say, or,grab the mike and say it for her.

I’m not doing the Republican “group grovel” and carry on about how they think “SHE believes something happened to her”, or “She wasn’t lying, just mistaken about who it was...”.

The preponderance of the evidence I’ve seen and heard, says she’s a hard-left, Trump-hating, activist, with ties to abortion pill manufacturers, practicing psychology without a license, and lying about home remodel dates (for some unknown reason).

Let the FBI delve deeply into HER background, connections, and motives, then the truth might come out.

I just saw where a guy was released from a 16-year (served) prison sentence because the woman who accused him of rape 16 years ago, recanted her story...so...WOMEN DO LIE.

I don't think Andrea came out and said that she wanted the deposition that was part of her CIVIL case against Cosby to be kept sealed. If not for that there possibly would not have been a criminal trial.

That case, like Ford's, was a political thing.

What can we do to protect survivors of libel and slander like that directed at Judge Kavanaugh?

I read a media report which said both gave tearful testimony. I don’t think that Dr Ford shed a single tear. Did anyone see any tears from her?
