A poster at 4chan made an unconfirmed claim Tuesday morning that he and his girlfriend punked porn star attorney and Trump antagonist Michael Avenatti. The two said they were behind Avenatti going public with an outrageously false story accusing Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh and his prep school classmate Mark Judge of plying women at school era parties with drugs and alcohol so they could be gang raped by a “train” of men.

Avenatti is prima facie non-credible. As he has no alternative explanation for the sudden disappearance of his gang-rape claimant, this stands as the only viable explanation.
He got punked. And he will probably lose his law license over this as well.
if he had any brains he would immediately retract his previous statements and apologize and inform the senate or else possible damages for defamation continue to accrue..imo.
He can still claim he has someone because he never said what her name was. I am sure he is looking for an actor right now.

From what I’ve read...the “PeeGate” fan fiction came from the chans as well...and Fusion GPS ran with it.

It was, I’m pretty sure they tweeted it to Rick Wilson who handed it off to God knows who else.
If they actually took him for $20K they would be charged with fraud. As it is they got away with prank calls.
They are anonymous, use burner phones, and he says his girlfriend is a stripper. Do they really care? Plus, if they took him for $20K, do you really think Avenatti is going to make a public fuss about it?
Actually, Murkowski and Collins really, really want to hear from this woman. They don’t care if she doesn’t exist.

It really doesn’t matter if he was punked or not, what matters is that people THINK he was. Credibility destroyed.
But don’t count Avenetti out, while he himself is nothing the role he has been playing is EXTREMELY valuable to many with very deep pockets who want to bring down Trump. They will not give up, but if/when Avenetti becomes more of a liability and an asset, they will assuredly dump him.
