“Now that the United States has adopted such huge restrictive measures, like holding a knife to someone’s neck, how can negotiations proceed?”
Let’s kick those tariffs up to 25% and add another $200 billion in Chinese imports to the mix.
Then we’ll find out “how can negotiations proceed?”.
China’s only option is to retaliate “via other means”, or succumb. Capitulation is political suicide, both internally and internationally. The “Prime Imperative” in China is no nation can be allowed to protect itself from the economic imperialism and mercantilism of the Chinese regime. There simply must be pressure applied, from some “whole nation” perspective, to force the US to capitulate.
Otherwise we are the first of many dominoes to fall and China will be relegated to regional hegemon status. And once retrenchment starts, economic collapse due to debt deflation will consume them like a funeral fire.
Thank God for DJT at the helm.
The Chinese Communist Party is worried the People will raise up and remove their heads
See my #21 as it nearly echoes your observation.
That’s not a knife to your neck, China. That’s the muzzle of one of the hundreds of millions of high velocity, center-fire rifles in circulation in our 2nd-Amendment-protected country.
Their debt bubble is gigantor. And when they get to the point, which I think is coming real soon, that they start calling all their markers, they’re going to realize that giving billions to countries in Africa isn’t going to have the returns they might have expected. Even if those returns were access to the minerals and precious metals that they’re trying to hoard. Takes money to dig that stuff out of the ground, they’re running out of it and the Africans are ....Africans. One day there’s some guy running the country and his brother chops off his head an declares himself the King.
Lovin’ our POTUS.
Wow. The change in tone is astonishing. The Chinese WERE saying how they can easily win the “trade war” because they could withstand far greater pain. Now, it’s not a “trade war,” it’s a knife to their throat.
