Feinstein Calls for Postponement of Kavanaugh Nomination, FBI Investigation
Judiciary Committee Ranking Member Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.) ^ | September 23, 2018 | Judiciary Committee Ranking Member Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.)

Sep 23 2018

Washington—Senate Judiciary Committee Ranking Member Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.) today sent a letter to Chairman Chuck Grassley calling for an immediate postponement of the Brett Kavanaugh nomination.

“I am writing to request an immediate postponement of any further proceedings related to the nomination of Brett Kavanaugh,” Feinstein wrote. “I also ask that the newest allegations of sexual misconduct be referred to the FBI for investigation, and that you join our request for the White House to direct the FBI to investigate the allegations of Christine Blasey Ford as well as these new claims.”

Full text of the letter follows:

September 23, 2018

Honorable Charles Grassley
Chairman
Committee on the Judiciary
United States Senate
Washington, D.C. 20510

Dear Chairman Grassley:

I am writing to request an immediate postponement of any further proceedings related to the nomination of Brett Kavanaugh. I also ask that the newest allegations of sexual misconduct be referred to the FBI for investigation, and that you join our request for the White House to direct the FBI to investigate the allegations of Christine Blasey Ford as well as these new claims.

Today, Deborah Ramirez came forward with serious allegations of sexual misconduct by Judge Kavanaugh. The New Yorker article recounting her experience states that there are witnesses who can corroborate her claims and who challenge Mr. Judge’s account. An investigation needs to be conducted as part of Judge Kavanaugh’s background investigation by career professionals at the FBI – not partisan staff of the Committee. We need a fair, independent process that will gather all the facts, interview all the relevant witnesses, and ensure the Committee receives a full and impartial report. Should the White House continue to refuse to direct the FBI to do its job, the Committee must subpoena all relevant witnesses.

It is time to set politics aside. We must ensure that a thorough and fair investigation is conducted before moving forward.

Sincerely,

Dianne Feinstein
United States Senator

"We must ensure that a thorough and fair investigation is conducted before moving forward."

They don't say ...

  1. Investigation
  2. If bad stuff, Kavanaugh's done, otherwise ...
  3. Move Forward
Instead it's ...
  1. Investigation
  2. Move Forward

That is, they leave out the one reason to conduct the investigation - which is to find out if the allegations are true.

Except that's not the one reason to conduct the investigation. The one reason to conduct the investigation is ... to conduct the investigation.

“f Grassley allows that he is history. “

If Grassley allows this, Trump is history and so are all of us who believe in the Republic!

Crap or get off the pot, old lady DiFi.

Feinsteinism is far worse than McCarthyism.

I’m calling for an FBI investigation into Diane Feinswine’s collusion with the Chinese all these years to enhance her financial portfolio, and that of her husband’s.

How convenient.

Grassley appoints a sex crimes prosecutor to question everyone on Thursday.

Now Feinswine wants to delay the hearing.

United States Senate: Expulsion and Censure

Article I, Section 5, of the United States Constitution provides that "Each House [of Congress] may determine the Rules of its proceedings, punish its members for disorderly behavior, and, with the concurrence of two-thirds, expel a member."

Since 1789, the Senate has expelled only fifteen of its entire membership. Of that number, fourteen were charged with support of the Confederacy during the Civil War. In several other cases, the Senate considered expulsion proceedings but either found the member not guilty or failed to act before the member left office. In those cases, corruption was the primary cause of complaint.

In the entire course of the Senate's history, only four members have been convicted of crimes. They were: Joseph R. Burton (1905), John Hipple Mitchell (1905), Truman H. Newberry (1920), and Harrison Williams (1981). Newberry's conviction was later overturned. Mitchell died. Burton, Newberry, and Williams resigned before the Senate could act on their expulsion.
