Nike has donated three times as much money to Republicans as Democrats this year

There seems to be a bit of a disconnect between Nike’s branding and the sporting good giant’s political leanings.

While Nike has caught heat from right-leaning supporters for its decision to feature Colin Kaepernick in the company’s latest ad campaign, a new report from the Center for Responsive Politics — a non-profit, non-partisan research group focusing on money in politics — shows that Nike employees and its political action committee have donated more than three times as much money to republican candidates as democratic challengers for the 2018 election season.

In all, Nike has given $424,000 to the GOP compared to $122,000 to Democrats. The findings follow a recent trend showing Nike has donated more to Republicans than Democrats in every election cycle since 2010 with the exception of 2016.

Maybe Yahoo doesn’t understand the GOP runs the Congress and the Executive branch...

The party in power gets the most funding...

At the end of the day, Nike is a business and they buy favors like any other large business..

The GOP are selling...

Does Nike realize that the Blue Wave is truly not coming?

MMmm. Instead of boycotting Nike because of their terrible Ads and who endorses their products, perhaps people ought to be focusing on making it well known that Nike is actually a Republican leaning company. That’ll tick off the lefties.... One can always hope...

After a quick cruise through the FEC’s database, looks like the vast majority went to the uniparty, ‘Rats and RINOs. Lots of donations to Obama and Hillary. Couldn’t find any donations from management to Trump, no donations to Trump from any employee actually.

Nuff said.

Nike employees and its political action committee have donated more than three times as much money to republican candidates as democratic challengers for the 2018 election season.

This is either very poorly written, or the headline is misleading.

Why Republican candidates and Democrat challengers? Is this statistic only for races where the Republican is the incumbent? Because that is what it sounds like.

I could probably resolve the question by reading further, but anybody who is stupid enough to write that sentence almost certainly has nothing to say worth reading.

Most print consumers only read a paragraph or two IF they bother to read past the headline.

This is an attempt at damage control for Nike.

Won’t help.

Two things to be suspicious of:

1. “”In all, Nike has given $424,000 to the GOP compared to $122,000 to Democrats.”” For a large corporation this seems to be very small amount of money by the corporation and its employees.

2. The data is from Yahoo and is thus tainted by their leftist views.

It makes a lot of sense actually.

Nike knows that Republican fiscal/regulatory policies benefit their business. However their primary market segment are people who would get behind their ad campaign.

That’s just how all big businesses operate. They are simply buying access, and they know that the Republicans have the power right now. Their view of America is that it is simply a large market, that it is a country doesn’t enter into their equation. They do what they have to do to make sure that they have the needed “access” to those who control their market. They have zero patriotism. We are not citizens, we are merely customers. And we are gullible enough to allow them to get away with what they are doing.

I’ve heard that Nike donates more heavily to lefties, while Phil Knight gives far more to Republicans. Could be a matter of doing business in Oregon. Trump had to play ball in NY, as well.

If a Republican wears socks depicting cops as pigs and protests during the national Anthem, I’m not gonna like him either. So this matters in the least to me.

Just checked the FEC. Knight likes RINOs. Knight did give one big donation to a Paul Ryan PAC in 2016. Interesting thing, doesn’t look the PAC spent any money. Hmmmmph....

He’s an Oregonian. RINO is about all we’ve got. Might as well be a Nazi, in the eyes of many Portlanders.
