I believe the priest’s problem is the statement, “Love the sinner, hate the sin.” No sinner wants his or her sin called “sin”. In their minds the sin of homosexualtiy, lesbianism, or any variation should never hold the connotation of “sin”. To them anyone naming their acts as sin are full of hate. That includes G_d.

The day has come that those who try to live by G_d’s Word are called haters, and those who ignore G_d’s Word or flaunt their sinfulness are called “good”.
