According to FiveThirtyEight, October 1 is basically the deadline to get a new judge nominated and confirmed before the new Congress is sworn in on January 3, 2019.

Though imagine it's late December 2018, and the Democrats won control of the Senate. There would be another #MeToo accusation. It's officially their weapon of choice.
