And 17 doesn’t matter, she is still a minor (under the age of 18) and meeting minors for sex on the internet is a felony as well. Plus you can still be charged with endangering the welfare of a child, which applies to anyone under the age of 18.
I'm thinking they tried very hard to set him up with an underage girl when he thought she was over 18.
