The issue came to a head when the Pale Moon developer got into a fight with NoScript users. As far as I am concerned, any browser that does not work with NoScript (or an equivalent) is useless on the internet. (My bank's website brings in unnecessary and potentially malicious JavaScript from four (and sometimes five) dodgey domains; so I use NoScript very heavily even on supposedly trustworthy sites.)

I don’t use NoScript, but do have a couple similar things running that do a pretty good job.
Simply can’t imagine ‘net usage w/o nuking ads, etc.
Have always been of the opinion that malicious hackers & virus authors/propagators should be shot.
The passage of time since the Web came out has not mellowed that opinion.
