WASHINGTON — The deputy attorney general, Rod J. Rosenstein, suggested last year that he secretly record President Trump in the White House to expose the chaos consuming the administration, and he discussed recruiting cabinet members to invoke the 25th Amendment to remove Mr. Trump from office for being unfit.

Rosenstein should be given til nightfall to have this retracted as false, else resign or be fired. We cannot have someone even joking about wiring to undermine the president. That is bias a step too far. Did Amarosa act based on him making a comment like this? We don’t need oath of loyalty but we do need people that respect the law and are not proposing to do things that undermine the presidency and country.

A current discussion on Fox is suggesting that a meeting in May of 2017, soon after the firing of Comey, attended by RR, Andrew McCabe and others, is where RR made these remarks, but they were made jokingly. Also suggestions that McCabe might be seeking revenge or just stirring trouble.

This is revenge by Comey and McCabe and ???

If so it proves that they operate on the emotional level of slightly disturbed fourteen-year old girls. A sobering thought when you consider the sort of power they held.

Rosenstein’s denial is a bunch of weaselly lawyer jargon.

It's not what I'd classify as a categorical denial.

"Inaccurate" and "factually incorrect" is a long way from "this is complete and utter made up BS".

I don't think people understand how bad things really are, or what they're dealing with.

It's pure evil.

Getting tired of Trump not taking control of the DOJ. The one area where I’m truly disappointed with him

It also implicates indirectly Sessions and Kelly. No doubt this is meant to sow discord and chaos within the Administration just as Trump orders a major dump of heretofore redacted information. It may be a shot across the bow to stop the release of the information. Trump is backing down somewhat by giving some of the documents to the IG for its evaluation. I hope Trump does not follow the recommendations of Deep State.

Personally, I think Rosenstein has reached the point where he’s no longer a problem for Trump and has become an asset. Unwittingly, of course.

Are you suggesting that Rosenstein stay in his position?

I won't presume to speak for anyone else, but in answer to the OP's question: YES! He should stay (for now).

Firing Rosenstein isn't going to stop Mueller, in fact it will further enable him, making him untouchable.

If someone has to be fired it should be Sessions. Who, Trump has called out many times as ineffective.

OK, the FBI has a very strange org chant: everyone in the FBI reports to the Deputy Director. The only direct report of the Director (Sessions) is Rosenstein. The Deputy is far more important than the Director in day-to-day stuff.

If Mueller is fired Rosenstein becomes acting Deputy Director. Trump then replaces the vacant Deputy Director slot with his guy.

Now Rosenstein is pretty isolated. He's got Trump above him and Trump's guy below him running the entire DOJ.

At some point if Trump does fire Rosenstein Trump's new Deputy becomes Acting AG, which effectively prevents Democratic approval drama. He can stay as "acting" forever, if Trump lets him.

ENOUGH of this subversion and treason!

No, it’s not treason. Please.

Didn’t Congress declare war on Afghanistan in 2001/2? Technically speaking, aren’t we still at war? And wasn’t England implicated in this whole Spygate scandal to get Trump?

Ooops! Small but confusing mistake

If Mueller Sessions is fired Rosenstein becomes acting Deputy Director. Trump then replaces the vacant Deputy Director slot with his guy.

Fire all three of them(rosenstein, sessions, and mueller) and start building gallows.

My understanding is that there are about a dozen senior position at the Justice department that are unfilled. About half are in the line that fills the Acting AG position. So, get rid of Sessions and Rosenstein and you are very far down the list. But, if that effective Acting AG is any good, they would have to be better than Sessions or Rosenstein have been in practice. There could be method to their madness in leaving 6-7 top positions open, as long as they know and have confidence in the next person in line.

Rosenstein should be given 10 min to explain, then, unless he pulls a convincing rabbit out of his a$$, he should be fired. Even if this is factually inaccurate, if the NYT can find that many of his staffers who would repeat this general drift, he has to go, along with his staff.

Trump has enemies in every dept of the government and every place else.. plus the media... Big shots, long been in positions, and the change Trump brings.. (which is honesty, keeping promises, transparency, loves the country and working for the people), they have a disdain for...
Obama said he was going to fundamentally transform the country and that was fine... not knowing which or what..
Trump just wants to give the people a chance at a job, security of some kind and make this country better than he found it.
And they hate our Pres Trump!
