It’s taken nearly five years of administrative battles, legislative interference, and lawsuits, but the California state government has finally counted farm workers’ votes in a union election at the state’s largest fruit grower, Fresno-based Gerawan Farming. The final verdict, tallied on Tuesday, explains why the Jerry Brown administration and Democratic statehouse leaders did everything in their power to destroy the votes without counting them.
The margin: 1,098 workers voted “no” to the United Farm Workers, with only 197 workers voting in favor of UFW representation. There still are 635 disputed ballots, but even the math geniuses in Sacramento can see that there’s no way to overturn a five-to-one vote against the union. That, however, is unlikely to stop state officials from continuing their efforts to force these workers to be represented by a union they clearly don’t want.
The long and unseemly process had myriad twists and turns. But the back story is straightforward. The state’s Agricultural Labor Relations Board, formed by Brown during the first year of his first term as governor (1975), has allegedly served as the cat’s paw for the union. In fact, a Fresno County Superior Court judge said in a 2013 ruling that “it almost seems” as if ALRB is “in cahoots” with the UFW.

This is rich! The Dems WANT illegals to vote in regular elections, but if they’re voting OUT the union thugs the ballots disappear!

Gee, I’d hate to see the whole group, from the union up to Brown, get sued for excess due and damages. There might even be some federal laws they violated, if Sessions can be bothered.
How is the State Government of California different than the Unions? Both are governing bodies that claim to represent workers while enforcing taxation and onerous restrictions while promising pensions from savings funds they have looted to enrich their power and lifestyles. Both betray their constitutes financial futures to promote Democrat voting issues and both have strong ties to organized crime.

Many years ago they were trying to unionize and there was always a organizer on the buses getting them all riled up. One morning the bus pulled up and they said they wouldn’t get out of the bus unless their wages were immediately raised.
My husband told them to leave and they did. The next morning the bus showed up and everyone got out and went to work. The bus driver said the people were so mad that they missed a day of work that they beat up the organizer. After that, the unionization thing just fizzled.
I worked the lettuce strikes (AKA salad bowl) in the 70’s in the Palo Verde Valley in California. There was a farmer that was paying more than the UFW requested wage. The organizer kept trying to get the workers to strike and join the union. The workers refused. They told the organizer it would be stupid to get paid less, and then pay the union for “representation”.
An interesting side note, the Cal. labor relations board would witness labor law violations by the UFW, and turn their backs and walk away. When the farmer would point out the violation, they were told to file a complaint.

The only good that came out of the UFW showing up was the overtime.
