This is about the dumbest reason for the shut down I have heard yet. Probably some dumb higher up liberal from the government came up with this poor excuse, suggesting “Well lets see how well this is going to fly?” After reading this I am even more convinced that something was observed for what the public was ill prepared to be informed.
That place is in the middle of nowhere on the southern edge of some indian reservation and an old folks retirement area in SE new Mexico. The place was once owned by a Judge named Moss out of Midland-Odessa. They had to pipe water up into those mountains to water the cattle. You can see all the way to Mexico from up there. It is freaking desolate. I forgot what they call the retirement settlement. Something like Los where the fukowawe or something like that.
A janitor in that place might resort to just about anything for a diversion but child porn is not acceptable.
If the sunspot activity is at a nadir why is it so friggin’ hot this fall? It is drier than a popcorn fart and hotter than blue blazes. Global something is going on because Fall used to be cool and drizzly and the last several years it has been hot and dry and dusty.

My first wife worked for a magazine fulfillment company in Des Moines and the account executives were expected to keep a copy of their client’s latest issue in their office. Glad to see a reason for the shutdown. The original statement from the observatory was quite long, and told you nothing. It was a study in opacity and non-brevity, and otherwise worthless.
This was handled exactly like a containment of a compromise of classified information, which can be a big deal as I can testify from experience.
