His ‘friends’ on the left have likely offered him a lot for a delay vote and later a no vote.
Nov 6 is only six weeks away.
If the left thinks they can delay Kavanaugh a couple weeks more, then scuttle the Kavanaugh nomination with a Flake no vote, they can move to hold off any further nomination review until after the Midterms where they hope to take the Senate and stop any POTUS appointments on any judicial openings.
Delay, Delay, Scuttle, Midterms, Take Senate.

The other leverage point is that in her letter she named an accomplice. That person is a private individual and has much greater protection against defamation.
If she goes public she either has to recant that accusation, undercutting her entire “story” or restate the defamatory utterance against the private party, totally exposing her to a defamation case.
So, they’ll whine and snivel about Republican harassment, making the accuser “feel unsafe,” etc., while still demanding Kavanaugh (and no one else) re-exposes himself to the process.
Not gonna happen.
