I once supported Ted Cruz over Donald Trump in the primaries, largely due to the fact that Trump seemed a bull who carried around his own china shop and campaigned like Sherman marching through Atlanta with matches. But he won me over, and I repented my political sins and saw the method in his madness as he overturned the tables at which the elitist moneychangers sat along with the status quo they cherished.

Sadly, some persist in their unbelief, most notably the #NeverTrumps over at the increasingly irrelevant National Review, who have published a piece taking the absurd position that the concept of birthright citizenship is not only constitutional, but an integral part of any originalist interpretation of the U.S. Constitution:

That first paragraph is a perfect description of me, and I bet of many former-Cruzers here. To use a WWII analogy, we wanted a Bradley but needed a Patton.
Me, too.
The 14th was never meant to be applied to illegal alien children.
Nor is everyone born a citizen a natural born citizen.

Sessions prevented impalements. Still is.
All it would take is a new AG to pursue the Weiner Laptop evidence, with no restrictions, to impale everyone who needs it. Just that investigation. Never was done.
Clinton Foundation, Iranium 1, treason, it’s all in there. All.
Ps. Not Huber or I friken G to investigate. New SC, from outside DC HQ.
There is no birthright citizenship. It as illegal as the parents who smuggle themselves in to the country to drop a dependent of the people.
It is another travesty against the true citizens of the country that is just not permitted anywhere else in the world.
If it were legal why do expectant mothers go to such great lengths to hide their pregnancy and sneak in to the US to squat and drop a kid? I saw it time after time in West Africa.
This is a perpetual crime against the real citizens.
And Oriental women who have the means (can’t remember if it is China or Japan or both) have actual maternity hospitals in California catering to them when they deliver. They fly in, give birth here, then return to their country. This gives their child dual nationality and a foot in the door for schooling here, and citizen benefits, if need be. Plus these “anchor babies” could move here, then through chain immigration their entire families can come in if things go sour at home.
As someone who supported Ted Cruz in the primary, this article speaks to me. And its description of the 14th amendment is clear and unequivocal. I hope the President’s judicial appointments undeerstand the true intent of the 14th amendment.
Vlad is a hero! He is a hero to the Romanians and is a hero to me, also.
Oh yes. Well aware of it. I knew a guy in Nigeria who carefully plotted his wife’s entry to the US to drop a kid. His expressed purpose was to facilitate his own entry to the US later in life. He already had dual UK citizenship.
I Agree,
.
Scorched Earth!
Test tube babies should be? Commercial or military, allowed to reproduce? Programmed?
The 14th was never meant to be applied to illegal alien children.”””
You are correct.
It was meant to apply to slaves & their children.
Ask people around you when that amendment was passed by Congress.
On person I know who thinks he is pretty sharp about the Constitution tried to convince me it was passed during WWII.
I made him look it up.
