Gunmen dressed as mariachi musicians kill 4, wound 9 in Mexico City tourist area

The shooting cast a bloody pall over Independence Day festivities. Many Mexicans will wear mariachi costumes, a symbol of national pride, on Saturday night to commemorate the launch of the revolt against Spanish rule on Sept. 16, 1810. It is also the busiest time of year for Garibaldi Plaza, a beloved but seedy square that draws heavily on Mexican folklore.

Lisa Sanchez, director of Mexicans United Against Delinquency, described the shooting as a "piercing portrait" of Mexico. The shooting in a crowded public square demonstrates that impunity prevails in the country, she said.

Business quickly resumed around the square following the shooting. Videos circulating on social media showed musicians in the plaza playing their music around the time of the shooting, without skipping a beat.

In one video, a man plucking a large harp continues to belt out the Mexican civil war anthem "La Cucaracha" as dozens of gunshots can be heard in the background.

In another, brass instruments and melancholic voices fill the air as the flashing lights of police vehicles descend on the plaza. Patrons continued to down tequilas and tuck into tacos.

At the Tenampa cantina, which bills itself as having first brought mariachi troupes to the plaza in the 1920s, a manager said it was business as usual Saturday.

Mexico has become so dangerous it's not funny.

Used to be, the nastiest thing that could happen to you in Mexico was a legendary (infamous) Tijuana Donkey Show.

tijuana donkey show

Nowadays, it's more like decaptitations, murder, rape, kidnapping and worse....

A few days ago, I saw a picture where the drug cartels cut some guy face off. It was hideous.

The Soros Open Border Dems are antiAmerican insane idiots with an evil purpose.

There intention is treason against the United States by replacing the population with one that is NOT American.

My daughter turned 9 so I gave her the choice to go to a Mexican Festival near us or see the movie HOTEL TRANSYLVANIA 3: SUMMER VACATION. We saw the movie because she saw the first and second.

But next weekend we are going to Tempelhof Park (used to be Tempelhof Airport) to see large floats and kites, there was a Turkish gang Leader shot dead last week there at an ice-cream truck I know well. I am sure there will be plenty of police now.

I saw a large dragon kite at that park a month ago when passing through on my bicycle (look in the clouds).

One side of the bridge (the side I took the picture of the Mexicans from, is closed to road traffic because they found a 7 meter tear in the steel. They are talking about building a whole new bridge.

The bridge was inspected a month prior and there was no tear. I think a passing boat spotted it.

from the last good independent era of motion pictures in the USA:
'El Mariachi' (1992)
A traveling mariachi is mistaken for a murderous criminal and must hide from a gang bent on killing him.

Director:
Robert Rodriguez

Writer:
Robert Rodriguez

Mr. Rodriguez charged $8000 on his own credit cards to make this terrific film.El_Mariachi_1992

Sounds almost like business-as-usual. They don’t need Police Squad telling them “nothing to see here..”
