On Thursday, the Trump administration scored an important win for U.S. grand strategy when they granted India access to advanced U.S. military technologies.
Secretary of State Mike Pompeo and Secretary of Defense Jim Mattis (both were in New Dehli to sign the agreement) recognize that this order faces a profound challenge from China and, to a lesser degree, from Russia.
The agreement follows the Trump administration's decision in August to grant India the highest strategic trade authorization level, putting New Delhi on a military technology access par with Australia, South Korea, and Japan.
...it will also improve India's defense capabilities against Pakistani terrorist infiltration and Chinese mobilizations on its northern border, which have at times been a very serious issue. These tangible defense improvements will prove to skeptical Indian officials that the U.S. is committed to their nation's interests.
To be clear, this is a big win for U.S. grand strategy. The better future of the American people and human freedom in the 21st century will rise and fall on whether the American order or Chinese feudal hegemony prevails. Thursday's deal strengthens the former interest and weakens the latter.

To counter China?
I wonder if he’s even heard of the Sepoy Mutiny.
Yes.
So, we actually have a “grand strategy”?
Will the American people ever be let in on it?
India, after independence, became infatuated with the Soviet Union. They adopted Soviet military equipment, they embraced life inside the USSR orbit, and they were anti West as they had been anti British. Our friend in South Asia was Pakistan.
Now the tables have turned. Our new friend and ally is India while Pakistan can’t be trusted and are, de facto, a belligerent in our war with Islamic radicals in Afghanistan.
American defense contractors are going to be making big money.
And their purchases will underwrite the research and that help needed to create the next generation of military hardware and capabilities.
President Trump is all over China like ugly on an ape. I’ll bet that the general mood in the Chinese government is confusion and fear.
Winning!.....................
Ill bet that the general mood in the Chinese government is confusion and fear.
~~~
I’ll take that bet. I doubt there’s any way to settle it though.
I don’t think China’s long term strategy is the least bit rattled by current events.
This should make China think a little more about their expansionism.
I keep posting positive articles as there’s so much here anymore that gets people riled up in the wrong way when there’s so much good happening....I celebrate every day this presidency and those working so hard in it to make things happen for us all. It’s easier to just ignore the sideline Dems and their lackeys who can’t stop our “Trump Train” that we’re all still on and will be! Life is grand!
one word
curmudgeons
Trump’s Grand Strategy:
(Not in any order, except the first 3 go together)
-Maintain the world’s most powerful Air Force and Navy.
—Keep the air and sea lanes free and open for our and global, peaceful commerce.
—Have the ability to block any adversary’s access to the same.
-Strategically protect our assets and nation’s place in space.
-Avoid a land war in Asia.
-Welcome global commerce, but ensure foreign governments trade fairly with the United States.
-Hit wonton acts of terrorism against us and our allies hard and brutally.
-Avoid nation-building.
-Enforce our immigration laws and ensure they benefit the United States and her citizens.
Yeah.
hahaha...did you know in British history books the US revolution is also called a mutiny.
I did not know that. Even now?
Even now? Of course! Two whole paragraphs on the mutiny...thats it.
Well, they do have a couple of thousands of years of history, against our couple of hundred.
