White House says anonymous 'coward' behind NYT op-ed should resign
The Hill ^ | September 5, 2018 | Tal Axelrod

White House Press Secretary Sarah Sanders ripped the anonymous senior White House staffer who wrote an op-ed for the New York Times slamming President Trump’s conduct.

“The individual behind this piece has chosen to deceive, rather than support, the duly elected President of the United States,” she said in a statement. “He is not putting country first, but putting himself and his ego ahead of the will of the American people.”

This coward should do the right thing and resign,” she added.

The statement follows criticism from Trump himself, who called the op-ed’s author “gutless.”

The author of the op-ed wrote that there are multiple people in the administration who are acting as a check on the president’s “misguided impulses.”

“We want the administration to succeed and think that many of its policies have already made America safer and more prosperous. But we believe our first duty is to this country, and the president continues to act in a manner that is detrimental to the health of our republic. That is why many Trump appointees have vowed to do what we can to preserve our democratic institutions while thwarting Mr. Trump’s more misguided impulses until he is out of office,” the staffer writes.

The White House aide says meetings with Trump often “veer off topic and off the rails” and slams the president as “amoral.”

“The root of the problem is the president’s amorality. Anyone who works with him knows he is not moored to any discernible first principles that guide his decision making,” the staffer says.

Any successes from the White House “have come despite — not because of — the president’s leadership style, which is impetuous, adversarial, petty and ineffective,” the author wrote.

he adds.

Sanders’ statement also issued a defense of the president.

“President Trump has laid out a bold and ambitious agenda. Every day since taking office, he has fulfilled the promises he made. His accomplishments in less than two years have been astounding,” she said.

The Trump administration has repeatedly railed against The New York Times, slamming it as “fake news” and labeling it the “failing” New York Times.

“We are disappointed, but not surprised, that the paper chose to publish this pathetic, reckless and selfish op-ed. This is a new low for the so-called ‘paper of record,’ and it should issue an apology…This is just another example of the liberal media’s concerted effort to discredit the president,” Sanders said.

A bullet to the back of the head seems appropriate.

Just a step in their impeachment plans.

Somebody is getting ready to quit and wants to go out with some publicity. I’m sure we’ll know who it is soon.

The problem for the Depsters is that they only know process, not outcomes. They have no clue where the country should go or else it would have gone that way. Instead, they cling to process and their role in moving the process forward. Therefore, when Trump steps in and says screw the process - we're going that away, well it disses the process queen's. It does them out of the job they have, their security blanket in adhering to the process come hell or high water.

They will argue that we couldn't have come to the wrong conclusion because we followed the process and the process is designed to determine the right outcome, fairly, impartially and with all due respect to diversity and social and environmental justice. What more could you want.

Isn’t this evidence of a coup against the government of the United States?

I realize that, but he seems such a jerk that he would say he was Kelly to report to the NYT. Do you think the Old Whore (Times) would tell the truth here?

Trump’s right. If you can’t work honestly do your job then it’s to quit. The person who wrote this story is a coward! If they were a hero they would have submitted this letter and publicly announced their resignation at the same time. Now it is a resigbation out of fear (more cowardice).

Those pesky Russians have a word for this: dezinformatsiya!

The goal is to trash Trump and hopefully goad him into damaging his administration.

I would not be surprised if there is no “anonymous coward” and the reporter made it all up.

Anybody out there doubt this was written by a REAL, LIVING human bean?
Rather than made up by the drunken night shift?

Me too.
