SUAMICO, Wis. (WFRV) - Village of Suamico Police are asking for the public's help to verify claims of a mountain lion in the area.
They shared the story on their Facebook page, saying the calls came in around 9 pm Friday and claim the animal was in the area of Veterans Ave. between CTH B and Norfield Rd.
The sightings have not been confirmed by police or the DNR, but if you have information or pictures of the cougar, you're asked to share it with Suamico Police.
Police also say mountain lions are rare for this area but not unheard of. Most sightings turn out to be a different animal. They say there have been no documented mountain lion attacks in the area. (video at source)

For those of you not from the area, Suamico is the NorthWest most suburb of Green Bay.
This was apparently the initial report, Ive seen a follow up with a few locals interviewed that had seen it and there were some pictures so it shouldn't be any longer considered "misidentified".

Nancy Pelosi on the prowl. Prewel...sucking on teeth. Prowl. Yeah, she’s a cougar. Get some big boy.
She’s on vacation from here. Stop her before she returns, for the love of the Gods of Kobol.

Lions are in all of the lower 48 and having babies. Lots of deer for food.

Well, if there’s a cougar sighting in Maryland, don’t worry, it’s just my sister. She turns 48 this month and she’s still a divorcee. LOLOLOL

For a hell of a long time the DNR had tried to convince folks there were no big cats in NE Wisconsin and the UP of Mich.
That is until a game biologist on Mountain Lions came in and confirmed that there were most certainly cats there.
Now, they can confirm the pictures taken of a black panther in the back yard of the LaBranch Tavern on M69 in the UP. I have seen those pics.

Not true. PA Game Comission states that the last known breeding mountain lions died some time in the 19-teens.

There's reality and then there's paperwork. Many Midwest and East coast States do not want to acknowledge a rare or endangered animal in their area, because it has legal implications. They don't want to put up with land restrictions or the endangered species act.. But mountain lions don't care about paperwork, and their natural range is the whole continent.

It happens to pets a lot. I saw my first mountain lion ever last fall. It was in the Colorado mountains, but in a mountain town residential neighborhood.

The Iowa DNR denied that there were cougars there until some guy hit one with his car. I’m sure they’re much rarer than coyotes, but they’re out there.

Man, does that song bring back memories. I remember when it was getting airplay, I had a girlfriend that had big, brown eyes like a doe, pouty lips, and was built like a busty quarter horse. I miss her. And a damn good song.

They have been sighted in a lot of areas not associated with normal habitat. That dont mean shitZ. They go with a food supply and territory they can claim. Live with them or hunt them. Take care of your small animals. It is what it is.
